How many of you do it on a day to day basis?

I realized that alot of people dont do it anymore for various reasons, being that it either takes too much time, they get too much negative attention or various other things.

I dress up every single day unless I'm not feeling well, and I was wondering if I'm in the minority.

I wear black everyday without fail and usually wear my eye liner everyday regardless of if I go out or not...as for dressing up, only when I go out.

Yes, I am one of those freaks who dress up when I go out, no matter where it is (mailbox excluded, I think). I like to look nice when I leave my house, period. Granted I dress up more for some places than others, but I always dress up and look my best when I leave my house. The how I dress up usually just depends on where I am going, but I always try yo look my best because I expect nothing less than the best from myself.

Everyday but I take what I will be doing on a given day into consideration when I get dressed [I have to abide by a dresscode for work, I already have had enough trouble in this economy that I am not going to put job interviews at risk, and I am not going to wear things that will cause problems with security when I go to a government building]. When I don't have to worry about such things the big deciding factor for what I wear is what I'll be doing. I am not going to be wearing stuff I care about when I am working on cars, and I am going to pick stuff I know can stand up to abuse when I go to a cemetery I've never been to before because I never know what kind of crazy stuff I'll have to go through to get the photographic shots I want if I have never been there before.

If people knew what I had to go through to get this shot for instance, most people would probably think I were mad for wearing what I did but when I left the house the logic behind it was not "could I run away from bears, be safe from ticks, and hike three miles through uncut brush that went up to my belly button?" but rather "I doubt I could destroy this easily and if I did I could replace anything that got torn up."

I'd like to say everyday but the truth is I just don't have the time some mornings. I'm of the opinion that if I can't pull it off today, I'm not going to look trashy or crappy and and attempt to do it anyway. And like sgath92 said, it also depends on what I'll be doing that day. Sometimes a full bustle and a corset just don't work. Comfort is my first criteria on any day.

For example: Today I was up in time for class. I have several hours til class in fact, but I have no intention of straightening my hair, putting on makeup, or even a skirt for that matter because it is rainy and cold and I have a 1/2 hr walk ahead of me. So jeans and a sweater it is.

As has been said, really depends on what I'm doing how I will dress.

Sometimes I will go all-out, but most of the time, I'm just walking downtown for casual coffee with a friend or two. So I usually stick to a more casual look, since it's more practical. I don't like the idea of wearing my expensive fancy clothes, and risking them being ruined, when I'm just going for a coffee with friends who are gonna be in jeans and hoodies.

I will generally dress up unless I feel really bad, but I'm pretty much dressed up all the time.

For example: today I feel a bit sickly, so I'm wearing a sweater and a floor-length but simple, comfy skirt.

On a normal day I would wear one of my fancier skirts, maybe with a hoop underneath depending on what I'll be doing, and a nice blouse.

I do my makeup almost every day, but on days when I'm just hanging out with friends and such I'll use less. I like to wear hats but I usually only do that when I'm running errands or walking in the park, because I feel silly standing around inside with a hat on.

I only backcomb my hair when I'm going somewhere special. It does too much damage to be an every-day thing.

Its unusual for me not to wear my gear, I do slob out with non-black attire in the apartment though.

There was a time when I didn't leave the house with out at least a colored gloss and eyeliner. The last couple of years the kids have been going to school different shifts(full day and half day) and it's more trouble than it's worth trying to put on makeup while running around after 2 kids. This year, since they're both going the whole day I've been dressing up a little more. Except when I'm painting or sculpting. I don't want to ruin my favourite stuff with paint, bleach or Apoxie.

I need to buy some more foundation.

Thus far, I do about the same that Midi does.... I always wear black eyeliner, although I've never gotten very creative with it, and always make sure I look "presentable" before I leave the house. I would like to say I wear black all the time, but I've worn clear through the majority of my black items and I live in a small town where stores do not offer much in the way of black clothing. Really, I just wear the darkest colors my wardrobe supplies. Being a poor college student doesn't help.

Once I can afford to, I will most certainly invest in dismally dyed garments of my preference, but until then...I get to e-window shop.

I dress up everyday--unless I'm really, really sick, or having to do farm work. My normal lazy-Sunday clothes are a long black flowy skirt and fancy top, and I like looking 'fancy' for school and special occasions. I wear my eye-liner everyday, even when sick. It makes me feel lost if i don't go through my daily motions of putting it on.

Ah, but the benefits of e-window shopping are various. Sometimes the glee-feeling from just observing the pretties can even put a band-aid on a broken heart.

When my clothes go old and start to fall apart I usually cut them up and make something new out of them. Depending on the state of your clothes, it might not be gorgeous, but you could have a zombie-chic outfit for lying around in.

My favorite dress dry-rotted last summer (actually, it was dry-rotted well before that, but it only became unwearable then) so I mourned it for a while and then tore out the lace, zippers, buttons, and other useful things. Recently I made a very pretty brooch with some of the lace from it, a ribbon, and some bits of broken jewelry I had hoarded.

Depends on what degree of dressing up. This semester I'm doing it a lot less because of labs, outdoor activities, and having to get up really early. When I'm indoors and am not expecting company or to go out, I'm an utter and complete slob.

"Going out." Depends again. Going out to da club, your friend's hut, to the bookstore, to the drugstore, jail to post bail? Frankly, I dress up more when I go out to the bookstore than when I go out to any other store. In the end, it depends on what type of physical activity I'm doing for the day and whether or not I'm too lazy to go through with the whole process.

I guess my problem with dressing up is what to do when I actually have to dress up for a special ocassion (wedding, funeral, etc. - that is when I'm actually invited since the sad, sad truth is that I hardly have a social life that would permit me to dress up for a reason and not just for the hell of it), since when you dress up in long skirts and frilly bustiers everyday, it's more casual than formal.
