Very nicely done, good sir. We're experts at it. "Poof", "dyke", "tranny"... We've appropriated them all, and heaven help those who may use such words against us.

 Re: Happy thread is happy.
I wasn't really happy, but I got cheered up by Viktors story and photo's on his webpage. And by Minnie's second statement about mortality.
Can I ask a - probably stupid - question tough? What means "tranny"? I see Eric and Viktor use it, but I don't know whether it refers to transsexual (like Sophia) or transvestite (cross-dressing)? I don't have my dictionary at hand, but, given that it's ancient, I doubt I'll find an answer in there.

I believe it refers to transsexual (omg, I almost typed "transectual"). Or transgender I should say.

Some people use it in a derogatory way towards women meaning that they are so ugly they look like a man. I don't understand it. People are stupid.

In straight society, it tends to be assumed to mean "transsexual"; in the LGBTQI community, though, it's more about being transgender. After all, the transition process can - depending on where you are - take forever...

Don't worry, donutte - actually, I was going to add a note to my post to say I didn't want what I'd said to reflect on you... I'm sorry!!

Oh no, I took no offense -- Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:53 pm -- And why am I happy today in particular? Two more months from today is the end of my last class.

This morning I had a dream that I was in a world where you went through a ceremony to die and everyone I knew was there and smilling. And my da was there telling jokes and making me smile although I was about to die. The only thing I could say was.
you made me happy.
I woke up feeling so loved, if only I could have saved that feeling in a jar... Heh, I'm tearing up like a big baby still.

 Re: Happy thread is happy.
A good mocha. A good mocha makes me happy...on a warm night...during a full moon....
You know, that makes me really miss Fresno. Late June the bats came out and ate the last of the Junebugs. Lightning storms were also very common around this time and with the smog density and crap air the sky was weird colors even after dark. I could sit on my front lawn and enjoy seeing bats flying overhead against a purple-red sky(at night) riddled with veins of light, listening to the sound of thunder. Now, that would be awesome to see again with a good mocha in hand.

It's a full moon here. It's at mid-day position, blazing down like a sun in the blackness... It's cold, and bright, and there's a breeze blowing. And that makes me happy; to hear the leaves on the trees in the garden rustling, waiting to fall.
