In primatology monogamy is loosely defined to refer to usual same-mate pairings/matings, though primates cheat on each other anyway, and often mate outside of their pairing. Very few primates exhibit true monogamy, which is mating with only one mate. Though I have I hunch this question is going to be done to death....

Monogamous just basically means you're committed to one person. There's a lot more to a relationship than just sex. Unfortunately it seems that our oh-so-intelligent society has forgotten that little fact.
