 chokers on males
so, ive been thinking of getting a combination of things for the neck... first, a leather/pvc choker, a chain dog choker, and to cover up in those nessisary times, a bandanna, as i already own a red one, it would be (obviously) red.
oh and keep in mind, im a guy (whos not confused about his sexuality xD) ive just seen this done before and found it to look pretty cool... give me your opinions on this.
Thanks, ~Eric

In my humble opinion it will look great. as long as you are the right physical type. I would not hesitate to use a real dog collar, but they might not fit quite right. reasonably priced though...

 Re: chokers on males
well, myself, i am mildly burly.... and as for the dog collar, id likely go with a chain... oh and also... with leather/pvc chokers, if you tighten them up right to the size of your neck, then wear them for the average highschool day7 AM - 2 PM, how much of a mark do they leave? lol, im going a bit under the radar, where parents are concerned, on this one.

 Re: chokers on males
I think people did get dog collars for the neck and cat collars for bracelets before they were made for humies. And if it fits, why not! I mean... wearing a collar is pretty much shock value as is, so it's not gonna make much difference who makes it except price. I wouldn't wear choke chains though, some bright spark might yank on it >.<
I no longer wear mine, I got sick of the brilliantly witty comments - but I found I did get little itchy spots from the metal spike backs against my neck. So paint the bits against your skin with clear nail polish if you are allergic.
And wouldn't recommend it for school, you'll get a heap of crap and it may get back to your parents. Probably more something for clubs or meeting friends.

 Re: chokers on males
I certainly agree that buying a dog collar is more cost effective than getting one made for humans (it all sounds funny in the end). It's not like it would be anymore uncomfortable, since leather softens through wear. I think the only difference is the sharpness of the spikes on some human spiked chokers and ones for dogs. As for chokers in general, spiked or not - I have no problem. I personally dig guys who are, er, on the more "androgynous" side of fahsion. >_> Which you may or may not be. Not to say that wearing chokers is totally girly or nothing.

 Re: chokers on males
being as im pretty androgynous i wear alot of things that most men wouldnt, but i personally rarely wear chokers for the simple fact that i cant find any i really like.
but if you do find one, why not? just be careful that its not the kind that if you get into a scuffle, can cause you more harm than good. no fashion accessory is worth your health.

I also don't see why not. And I personally wouldn't assume a man wearing a collar was gay, I would probably assume (to myself) that he perhaps had a certain lifestyle, but I see no problem than that. Not to mention that they can look really cool

 Re: chokers on males
I think collars look awesome on both males and females - and whenever it's possible I wear one of my studded collars, and in my experience they don't really leave marks. But then, echoing Batty, you really should reconsider wearing collars to school. I was only able to get away with it last year (when I was still in high-school) because we didn't have a dress code in the school, but my teachers still had a hard time accepting that I was wearing that "fetish-thingy" everyday, and my classmates sometimes asked me if I was into "pervy fetish things". (I always answered the question with a heartfelt yes, and apparently that confused the heck out of them, and after some time they just got bored of asking stupid questions. )

 Re: chokers on males
well, my school is generally quite liberal over accessories so long as they dont impend on the overall stature of the uniform, and the people in my school havent got the slightest clue what BDSM is, beyond a rather stray theory stated by one guy once...
"well, its like, you have to sign a contract so if the cops come in they wont arrest you for rape and like, yeah" NO, trust me, mate, there are NO contracts, atleast in my experience... (at which point, he called me a stupid wannabe who knew nothing about profane sexual acts he could hardly pronounce, let alone try to understand, xD)
anyway, i leave my top and collar buttons undone, so i can just as easily do them up if necessary... never the less, its not -technically- banned, though spiked/studded collars are.
so, thanks for the tips people, and if you have more, do keep em coming...
Thanks, ~Eric

A leather collar, can cause chafing due to movement making it to rub against your skin. I recommend applying petroleum jelly like to your neck area first. PVC collars aren't so bad because it isn't as stiff.

 Re: chokers on males
A dog collar or chain is neat-o, because then you can go to Petco (or whatever the pet store chain equivalent is in Canada) and for a few dollars use their machine that etches I.D. information onto a pet tag. Only, instead of etching a pet name and address on the tag, you can etch your Dark, Dark Name onto your tag. And then put the tag on the collar or chain you plan to wear! -- Nephele Who really, really wishes that Petco would add a skull & bones style pet tag to the choices they give you.

 Re: chokers on males
@ Nephele and whom ever else it may concern meh... so long as they fit "Der Reverend von Wolves" or atleast, 'WolvenReverend' oh, as you may have guess, thats my dark, dark name... or, of course, i could always use the anogram you did for me some time ago... 'carsen wierd' or, i maybe il just submit my name anyway... as i know you seem to enjoy doing such devilish things to our names, making them black as the abyss, barely matched by even the onyx of the rings i wear... black... black as the deepest abyss... say... couldnt you bring a plate in and have them inscribe something on it? or do you have to buy the plate from them?

I'd etch the skull & bones tags with the Dark, Dark Names I anagrammed for her grandchildren, and then attach them to a bracelet, like a gothic charm bracelet. Then she'd always remember her grandchildren's dark, dark names. But you can do that with a choker, too. EDIT: Oh. My. Gawds.-- Nephele
