The Cure did a cover for Depeche Mode's World in My Eyes I quite enjoy.

That whole album was actually quite good, unusual for a covers album

Third Uncle, Brian Eno - Bauhaus

Actually my favorite ones have already been cited:

Bauhaus - Ziggy Stardust
The Cure - Love Will Tear Us Apart
Mephisto Walz - Paint it Black

But there are others I really love too:

Mephisto Walz - I Wanna Be Your Dog
Voltaire - Lovesong
Cruxshadows - Happy Xmas (The War is Over)
Sisters of Mercy - Gimme Shelter
Inkubus Sukkubus - Paint it Black (yeah, I do like this song)

Some of these songs are not goth in their original versions, but I simply love when a goth band remake an old rock'n'roll song.

Dave Navarro - Venus in Furs (I still prefer the V.U. song, but this is nice too).

OK, so, here's my faves/least faves as of now:

My favorite covers/remakes:

5. Dr. Steel - "Inspector Gadget" (original theme song cover)

Well... leave it to someone like Dr. Steel to make something as lame as Inspector Gadget cool. I mean, don't get me wrong, I used to watch the show, I mean, when I was too lazy to get up and there was nothing else on, it beat turning off the TV and taking a nap, I guess... but still, amazing cover, Dr. Steel, NOW RELEASE A NEW ALBUM ALREADY!!!!

4. The Quick Brown Fox - "Rape Girls" (Bastardization of "Pretty Rave Girl")

The song pisses all over "Pretty Rave Girl" and that's why I love it. I normally don't care about music-related drama, but, in the case of PRG, its so bad its pathetic. "Pretty Rave Girl" is pure art theft. Its just Basshunter's "Dota" speed up with different lyrics, and it didn't even sound half as good as Dota. It sucks. So kudos to TQBF for making it listenable. :3

3. Guttermouth - "Sexual Abuse" (St. Madness cover)

Excellent cover, what can I say? Its especially great for when the naggy grandparents come over. >.< All I do is push play and 4 minutes of "Why can't you ever keep the corners of this room clean? After all we've..." becomes 4 minutes of tranquility in the form of awesome riffs, epic solos, and obnoxious lyrics. That'll teach you to make your filthy, human mouth noises around me, Grandma!

2. Type O Negative - "Paranoid" (Black Sabbath cover)

Its beautiful. It just adds so much to the original that wasn't there before. There is just so much soul and emotion in it. Just beautiful. Pure and simple.

1. Alexander Hansen - "Rancid Amputation" (Cannibal Corpse cover)

...internal rot begining to clot; I'll swaaaaaaaaaaaaalloooooooow youuuur puuuuuuuuuus...oh, wah, bah doo, wah be-AHEM! This song is simply perfect. Its every bit as hilarious as it is catchy, and trust me, IT IS CATCHY. Awkward moments will abound for weeks to come, as you find yourself singing it in public and look up to see everyone staring at you with concerned looks. Those crazy Aussies.... what will they think of next?

AND, my least favorite as of this minute...

-1. Murderdolls - "197666"

Wednesday 13, please stop trying to be so MOTHERFUCKING EDGY AND HARD-FUCKING-CORE. You don't have to say "MOTHERFUCKER" every 5 seconds. You're not Samuel L. Jackson. Stop pandering to the current generation and play it like you did back in The Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13. Ya know? Back when you didn't suck...

TRANSLYVANIA 90210?!?
FANG BANG?!?
You didn't like either of those? I mean I can see why someone wouldn't care for skeletons because that was just a piece of trash but it's not suppose to be serious anyway. As for his constant "fuck" "motherfucker" yeah I will give it to you that he does spout those off quite often but I think his music is suppose to be edgy and have a punk feel to it. Not saying that it doesn't take away from the meaning of some of his songs. But I will agree, I much prefer the Drag Queens. Are you looking forward to the new Murderdolls?

The Swans' cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" trumps all but the original imho. Bauhaus' live version of "Severance" on the "Gotham" album was fab. Laibach's "Geburt einer Nation" cover of Queen's "One Vision" enamors. Therion's version of Abba's "Summer Night City"...The Residents did tons of out there covers...

Leather Strip - Sex Dwarf (Soft Cell cover)

This is better than the original in my opinion.

This is my favorite cover:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U5RJbLjdYg

It is a cover of Christian Woman by Lilith Astaroth - she is a Boston area metal/goth screamer/singer and this cover really gets to me. If you listen, I think you will be impressed by her range - all the vocals are hers. It gives me chills and yes I know her - She made this because Peter was one of her vocal idols and she was very affecte by his passing. This is a tribute from the heart.

Please give it a listen and you can find her at

Rammstein's cover of "Stripped", originally by Depeche Mode.
This is definitely worth a listen.

Stripped was an ok cover, but one cover I liked best that was done of a Depeche Mode song was the cover of 'Never Let Me Down again' done by The Farmer Boys (yeah, the bands name makes me want to have a hamburger more than listen to music, but meh, whatever, the cover is pretty good)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK6-VWta5JU, here's the song, the actual song starts at about 1:05
