 Re: What's Your Poison?
my poison tends to depend on where I am house parties it tends to be beer out to Subculture it's vodka and coke or rum and coke out to Eddies (a rock club in Brum) it's beer again because it's cheap if I'm in on my own or out with my best friend Katie it's wine of any kind (though Sicilian red is to die for!!) and if I'm round my mate Matt's house it's what ever we can afford....because we are both poor (last time it was gaymers pear cider)

Aus wrote: coffee with milk and sugar, every morning.. Ditto on that! Except I use flavored creamer but the concept is the same... coffee every morning! As far as alcoholic drinks, definitely starting to like beer more and more. I'm in love with draught Blue Moon. With a slice of orange

My poison is Tea. Tea with enough sugar to choke a horse.

 Re: What's Your Poison?
I would love to be able to drink alcohol, sadly my system cannot seem to take more than 3% volume without my body doing strange things! (my face flushes red, I go incredibly hot and feel like I'm going to pass out... I wonder if I've got a mild case of my Mother's allergy to alcohol?) I'd love to be able to drink red wine, there is something about red wine that strikes me as somehow posher than white (no idea why). I'd also love to try absinthe, purely because of the taboo factor that still seems to surround it... but it would probably kill me These days my one vice is tea, herbal or Earl Grey... though I've just found a lovely regular organic tea and it's becoming my favourite Occasionally I have coffee, but not often (it can give me headaches these days).

In very small doses, absinthe is absolutely fine. It has a strong aniseed flavour, and is absolutely lovely. My prtner puts a couple of chunks of ice in a liqueur glass, pours a little absinthe into the bottom, and lets it chill; then she tops the glass with red grenadine (non-alcoholic). Because the ice has melted by that time, the absinthe turns yellow with the melted water. It tastes amazing, and looks spectacular. dethvow wrote: ... well don't look at me it's not my round. Minty wrote: That sounds amazing and I'd love to try it... My partner calls it "Fire and Ice"; because of the redness of the grenadine and the shape of the glasses, it also makes a lovely gothic hors-d'oeuvre - the red is that of blood... Minty wrote: also Hobgoblin is nectar of the Gods Won't argue with that!

 Re: What's Your Poison?
Oh I am not able to even look at rum. The first time I was drunk, I was 14 years old and in my Mothers office, some friends and her were having a few afterwork drinks. So I decided I would join them and took to drinking Rum and Napoleon Brandy... Due to ignorance I drunk them quickly as I was expecting it to effect me immediately but it wasn't so I drunk even more, then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Mother took me home but we had to stop at a Petrol Station, the smell made me throw up on the floorcourt. When she got me home she put me right in the middle of a king size water bed! That did not help me at all. I half remember trying to get off the bed but in my attempt I got my legs stuck between the bladder and the frame of the bed. At least I was close to the bucket Lol. I think I was hungover for 3 days or so.
I don't drink very often these days, maybe once every 6 months and even then I have maybe 2-3 glasses. I love Southern comfort with lemonade and lime. It's so refreshing.
