OMFG YES! I think its horrible for religion too be ingrained into the infrastructure of America. Religion (and im not trying to be offensive to anyone, If I am, sorry) can cloud a person's judgement and make one pray for help, when instead, they should be helping themselves. And all that bullshit about Obama being Muslim and people saying, "Oh, wow, hmm... he's not like me... I need a reason to hate him..." That's racial and steriotypical ignorance. I don't like Obama either, but I don't him cus he's black or religious. But that's beside the fact.
I do not know if I exactly agree with this or not...
I mean, yes Religion CAN cloud a peron's judgement, but I think it depends on how you use it as to how it affects your judgements.
For example, if you think that because of your religion you are better than EVERYONE else, and then that line of thinking makes you feel that your way is that only way because your religions says so- then yes, your religion is clouding your judgement.
However, if your religion is solely for spiritual purposes and growth, and you harbor no ill will to others (be it because of your religion or not) and because of your religion you wish only for peace and justice for everyone, it can, in fact, cause you to think more rationally in terms of everyone, not just yourself.
I think that is the key difference with Religion. Some people use religion and spirituality selfishly, while others do not.
It is usually, from my understanding, the ones that push their own beliefs on others (inside politics and out) that tend to be the most selfish (or self-centered, whichever you deem fit).
This is a big reason why I feel that religion should be left out of politics. Your agenda within the government should be the people and their needs- not your own idea about what the people need (in terms of religion).
