Post BEER!!!
The title says it all. This is a place for a discussion about all things beer. What you like, what you don't like, and where to get both.

For me, I will say my favorite beer has to be Murphy's Irish Stout. It used to be Guinness, but after years of comparison I have found that I like the more chocolate and creamy flavor of Murphy's over the bitter coffee flavor of Guinness.

Other beers I like are Blue Moon, Sam Adams, Caffrey's Cream Ale and Anchor Steam Porter. Most of these you can get anywhere in the US, but I have seldom found a place that has Caffrey's.

For the most part, I think I am partial to creamy beers that have a smooth flavor. I have tried numerous "craft beers" and although I like a hoppy beer on occasion, I do not like all of my beers to be this way, so palatable craft brews for me are few and far between. I will say that New Belgium 1664 and Fat Tire Skinny Dip are a couple of the craft brews that I can say I enjoy.

I prefer rum or vodka, myself.

I prefer margaritas to all. Haven't found a beer yet I actually liked.

I like light beers (specifically, Corona Light).

Creamy beer, that just sounds wrong.

Spidey, you deserve honorary "This-side-of-the-pond" status for your taste in beers! I, too, have a fondness for Murphy's, and agree that the sweetness gives it the edge over Guinness - although I like that too! Chilled nicely, they're both great on a hot summer's day.

My favourite beers are made by a company which, I hope, would get "Scotty's Seal of Approval"... Wychwood. They tend to be available in bottles, but an increasing number of pubs specialising in craft beers are beginning to sell Hobgoblin on tap.

And if you visit the Wychwood site, check the gallery... The images have mostly been used as bottle labels. I particularly like that for Black Wych...

I generally dislike beers,
but I do ocasionally drink Heineken, I do like it's taste, but not the aftertaste all beers seem to give me.

nothing beats an ice cold cider on a hot summers day though.

I'm not much of a beer connoisseur, but I think I'd like to try a re-creation of ancient Mesoamerican chocolate beer:

Quote:
Humanity’s love affair with chocolate began at least 500 years earlier than was thought previously, scientists have discovered.

Chemical residues found in pottery vessels from what is now Honduras have revealed that the ancient peoples of Central America were drinking chocolate beverages as long ago as 1150BC, probably to celebrate occasions such as births and weddings. The evidence suggests that they were alcoholic drinks made from fermented pulp of cacao fruit.

Mmm... Chooooocolate BEER!

Not too fussed on beer today for some strange reason, maybe later when I'm less green. Sometimes I go to CAMRA (http://www.camra.org.uk) events and sample all kinds of weird and wonderful brews. I agree with Minnie as to the suspiciously anglophile leanings of our lady of arachnia.

I like champagne- the dry stuff not the sweet. I find that Asda does a very good Cava which tastes quite high end. When I'm not drinking the fizzy stuff I like a stubby- Bier Blonde- it's really light.

One thing I didn't think of (as I responded at almost 2 in the morning and couldn't think to save my life) - I like wheat beer. I love the flavor it has. Have never had Blue Moon (will have to try it one day), but I've had something called Horny Goat beer. Had it at a liquor store having wine tastings on our way up to Lake Geneva last year. They were having some beer tastings too, and I bought some of the wheat beer. Only bad thing about it - if you don't drink it soon enough, it seems to develop sediment at the bottom. Which is not too very appealing!

It's been very hot lately around here, and when it's hot the best beer as far as I'm concerned is a nice Belgian-style wheat beer, or its German equivalent.

'Hoegaarden' from Belgium and Schneider & Sohn 'Weissbier' from Munich, Germany are both perfect for such days. Ice cold and preferably with a slice or two of orange in them.
