 LGBTQI Issues and Related
Apologies if this question has been asked before – if so, please could you point me in the direction of the appropriate thread.
I’m wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of a forum like gnet which is:
1. LARGELY, if not exclusively, goth; 2. EXCLUSIVELY LGBT; 3. Where the discussion level is as open-minded and intelligent as it is here.
Point 3 is mentioned to save people the effort of recommending VampireFreaks – been there, done that, recoiled in disgust.
Please don’t post any recommendations as replies – please PM me.
Many thanks,
Minnie

That doesn't leave a whole lot of room for discussion then, does it? I don't want to step on your toes, but linking them in-thread will make sure this info gets out there for other members of the forum that might want to look into the same sorts of forums - you know, like you were. ~spidey

I was just concerned about providing ammunition for the occasional troll who comes wandering through. So, definitely... If anyone has any recommendations, please feel free to add here!!

I hear ya, but as you well know trolls are never long for this realm. Besides, it's probably not info they couldn't get elsewhere if they were so inclined to look. I figure the benefits outweigh the risks. ~spidey

Re: Advice re LGBT goth forums
I have an account there, but....this is the place I call 'home' because overall it has more appeal to my darker sensibilities. I know of no place that is mostly or exclusively Goth and LGBT.
I would say they seem like a more political forum overall.

I used the search facility using the words "gay" and "lesbian" and virtually all the topics which came up wer in the politics section. Though, to be fair, they seemed mostly pretty open-minded, and if there was any "understanding" of homophobia it was assumed, not stated. Thank you for your advice - I appreciate the benefit of your experience. And, if I join, I'll drop you a line to say "hi" there...

Re: Advice re LGBT goth forums
Back when I was searching for Goth sites, I couldn't find any gay ones either.

Re: Advice re LGBT goth forums
I really don't understand the need for something exclusively 'gay & goth' since the whole goth subculture is one that accepts people regardless of age, race, gender, religion or sexuality. Most Goths are more accepting of gays(and the whole LGBT community) as a rule because of how society shuns anyone 'different', we know that pain and refuse to inflict it on others.

Re: Advice re LGBT goth forums
I understand the desire for a goth forum specifically aimed at LGBT members of the sub-culture. I can imagine there are topics that would be of little interest to people not LGBT, that wouldn't get many (If any) replies on a "regular" board, there are also topics someone might feel squemish(sp?) about posting on such a board. I'm also sad to say that there are homophobes within the goth scene, but glad to say they are an extreme minority. I wish I could help you find what your looking for DarklyInclined, but alas I honestly don't think such a thing exists. I might suggest finding a regular LGBT forum and making a goth thread there? The LGBT scene is also very accepting of different people...who knows, if theres enough interest in your thread, you could set up the first LGBT Goth forum yourself!

That is why I love the Goth subculture so much because of how accepting it is, and it is something i do not think anyone could understand the vast amount of acceptance here (as in within the culture) unless they were Goth and seen it for themselves first hand. I love to see people being themselves and not only being themselves but being able to admit who they are openly. I take my imaginary hat off daily to all of us who are 'different' by 'normal' standards.

Honestly being Goth myself and a transwoman has been making my journey much easier because of the culture.

I never would have guessed about you being a transwoman (especially as pretty as you are- not that that would matter, really, anyway shutting up). And I am glad being Goth makes the journey easier. We love you!
