Post Most goth song (for you)
What is the most goth song in -Your- oppinion? The song doesn't necessarly have to belong to the goth rock, industrial music, punk genres, or even the whole rock'n'roll umbrella (it may be even a pop song, although slim chances). Which is the song that makes you rise from the dead, that you consider the essence of goth?

For me it's Concrete Blonde - bloodletting (vampire song)

...thanks for pointing out it doesn't have to be true goth music, 'cause I'm still a bit confused about that.

so, for me it is Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Knock three times

because it raises the grotesque side of gothic.

That's a good one, that's one of my favorites. Here's my list, off the top of my head:

Alien Sex Fiend: Now I'm Feeling Zombified
The Cure: Pictures of You
Cinema Strange: Greensward Grey
The Last Days of Jesus: Fear, Gunshot... Then Bliss
Emilie Autumn: Save You
Gary Jules: Mad World
Tuxedomoon: Dark Companion
The Phantom of the Opera: Music of the Night
Astrovamps: Creatures After Dark
Siouxsie and the Banshees: The Ghost in You
The Jesus and Mary Chain: Cut Dead

The Phantom of the Opera - Music of the Night

Totally forgot that one

Definitely a nice death rock list, though I would probably replace the Siouxsie song with "Umbrella", and the Cure song with Cold" or "Pornography".

I suppose I am being old-fashioned, but i think I may have to go with :

Black Stone Heart - Bauhaus

and definitely in no way goth at all, but it is still one of my favorite songs:

Iris - The Goo Goo Dolls (from the City Of Angels Soundtrack)

This is the sort of list that can change almost hourly, depending on mood, but for me:

--Just about ANYTHING by 'Fields of the Nephilim', but especially 'Moonchild' and 'Sumerland'.

'Marian' by Sisters of Mercy.

'Black Sun' by 'Dead Can Dance'.

Heaven Falls Hard - Thank You
Emilie Autumn - 306
Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Dagger

This may suprise you, but I would include "Dance with the Devil" by Immortal Technique. It's a hip hop song, but I.T. really gives us the message of being careful for what you wish for through a song that is quite disturbing.

Faith and the Muse - Cernunnos
Enigma -The Voice and the Snake
Deine Lakaien - Frulingstraum
Pretty Balanced - Simon's Sleeping
Audra - You're so pretty
Dead Can Dance - Yulunga and also Gloridean

Hm. I think some stuff that constitute as "gothic" for me is music that strikes psychological disturbia/fear in me.

Jesus And Mary Chain - "Upside Down" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnO41-rKUsc *

Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows - "Dark Delight" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n7khlw6jrA

The Doors - "End Of The Night" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iERil2Tz1Mg

Black Sabbath - "Black Sabbath" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akt3awj_Ah8

Tangerine Dream - "Rubycon (Part Two)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObIqsQBqdNU

-LS

* Yes, it supposed to sound like that.

Under the Milky Way - The Church

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-mQyRuHIuA

Definitely one of my all time favorite songs!! It isn't just the sound of the song, but the lyrics kinda describe my discovering myself and realizing back in the 80s where I truly belonged:

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty
Sound of their breath fades with the light
I think about the loveless fascination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Lower the curtain down on Memphis
Lower the curtain down all right
I got no time for private consultation
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

Under the Milky way tonight..
Under the Milky Way tonight...

For me, it would be:

"Requiem, Kyrie" by Virgin Black
"Frozen" by Lycia

It's hard to choose one song. How to understand "most goth song"? Classical gothic?
