Post Forums Upgrade
Yet again I have upgraded the forums. From phpBB 3.0.5 -> 3.0.6.

I have also updated the forum skin to a newer version of the same skin (which is why it should look the same). The new skin allows access to some of the features that have been added in recent versions of phpBB.

As usual, let me know if you see any issues.

Only problem I have that I can see is, I miss the "Mark forums as read" button. :(

I still see a 'mark forums as read' link after the read only groups (ie. at the bottom of ALL forums). Or were you talking about it in a different place?

I think she means the "mark forums read" button that used to be at the top of the "view unread posts" list. Now you have to go into each individual section to mark them as read.

Odd. I can't see anything in the code that created a 'mark forums read' for the old theme (obviously I kept the old theme around for reference). I could easily move the mark forums read link to the top, but I'd be worried about too much clutter. Plus it still exists at the bottom of the forums (before the status output, after all actual forums).

The only problem i seem to be having is that it will not let me vew active topics. I hit the link and it says that no results can be found.

Apparently a new option was added where I had to enable showing in the active topics list on a forum-by-forum basis - and that flag was not turned on for all forums.

I enabled it for all except the regional and archived forums. It works now.

Prez, I did see the button you spoke of after you mentioned it, but it'd be nice to have one on the page when you view the unread posts too. Just because I don't know about everyone else, but there are some topics I don't follow, and some I do, and it's just easier to open the tabs I'm interested in and mark the rest as being read in the same spot. Even if it goes at the bottom?

Found the problem. Apparently I was using a modification to do the searching for unread topics before, and that has since been merged into the core. By updating the theme I started using the core version instead of the mod version, which did not set a flag the theme needs to show that link.

The short version is, when viewing unread posts, the mark forums read link is back.

I found another problem - apparently, when they added the quick reply, they overwrote one of the flags I had used to avoid post deletion (ie. to force old threads to be locked instead of deleted).

This caused me to have to take down the forums for a time tonight, pull a backup of the databases, and re-populate it with the older posts that were going to be pruned. I have since fixed this so that the quick reply and post locking don't conflict, so now posts should lock, not get deleted as they are supposed to.

I believe no data loss has occurred, and the the only impact was a little downtime.

PreZ, just noticing that when I open up a section on the forum, the field where the OP of a thread was is no longer listed. Makes it a little more difficult when we have spammity spammers starting topics to spot them right off the bat. I find I am having to go into their profiles and look up their posting history to see what they are up to.

Any chance of restoring it?

Your wish is my command. I tried to re-enable this a few days ago, and couldn't figure out why it didn't work - just found it today.

It works in the individual sections, but still doesn't come up when you go to the "view unread posts" option. Any chance you could get it to work there?
