 Re: Transformers 2
It was eh. Some of the action seens were really cool, the two retarded small "gangsta" twins were irritating, and the fact that the kid dies then comes back to life after his girlfriend pours her heart out is just a cheap knock-off scene from The Matrix.

LOL I'd forgotten about that scene from the Matrix. You're absolutely correct though.

 Re: Transformers 2
I thought it was okay. Liked the first movie better...here the plot felt way too contrived and last minute. The constant barrage of potty humour, swearing and sexual references were also annoying. I'm sure the parents sitting behind us with their six year-olds really appreciated all that, lol. But what are ya gonna do. It's merely a summer flick...no one should walk into a Bay movie and expect anything more than lots of mindless destruction and expensive special effects (which were, admittedly, very pretty).
I do wish that the Autobots had been given a little more attention. Here I was wondering how Bay was going to explain the existence of a female robot...and it turns out she gets all of maybe two minutes on screen. Oi.

 Re: Transformers 2
The problem with some of critics is that they were not privy to the Transformers G1 series back in the 80s. They have forgotten their childhood and base their "reviews" on some medically induced attempt at a movie review. The critics lack of understanding or childhood shows they have no clue about the Transformers or what they are about.
If there is one thing I would suggest is to look at the G1 series of the Transformers AND than look at the movies. Secondly, the fact that the movie has done so well shows that the movie itself and genre is well done; Bay deserves a medal. The fact that the movie did so well is like giving them movie critics two verbal middle fingers and we have the last laugh.
I stopped listening to movie critics when they started to review movies, give them A+ or B+ reviews and when it came for the opening day, the movie tanked.

Why should anyone take some stranger's opinion as fact? Hell, the critics poo-pooed the original Star Wars, didn't they? Not saying that everyone likes that trilogy, but look at how insanely popular it is to this day. I don't get why we even have critics...for film, music, whatever it may be. People should be able to form their own opinions ('should' being the operative word).

Because movies aren't free and some people don't want to shell out $12 for a show that might suck, so having someone give you an idea of why it might suck is a fairly good thing. I agree though that for the most part, critics aren't really all that worth it considering that most of them that've told me "this movie rocks" was horribly horribly wrong.

 Re: Transformers 2
I recently heard a looooooong drawn out review of Antichrist on the radio while in the car and the panel of three reviewers went into all kinds of detail on it, the technique, acting, emotion etc.
They completely neglected to mention if it was any fun.

 Re: Transformers 2
I still think critics are useless, lol. Movie experiences are personal. Like everyone else I've gone to flicks highly lauded by the crits and thought they sucked horribly. It's always a gamble when you're willing to spend 30 bucks to go sit in a chilly room crowded with annoying strangers and greasy overpriced food.

They completely neglected to mention if it was any fun. I think asking if the film is fun, in the context of a Von Trier film...would be to miss the point...of course it's not "fun"! [edit]I just realised this was the transformers thread and this is totally off-topic [/edit]

 Re: Transformers 2
Hello Everyone...........
Its a fantastic ride, but one that suffers from Bay’s trademark crash-bang editing, meaning you’ll remember the set pieces, but struggle to care about the plot. If anyone cares, it turns out that our chunky metal pals have been on Earth for a looooong time and first started showing up around 20,000BC (subtly illustrated with a cavemen vs killer robot fight). When our hero, Sam (Shia LaBeouf) accidentally gets some alien knowledge stuck in his noggin, it sets up a race around the world to find something called ‘the Matrix’ and thwart eeeeevil British robot ‘The Fallen’.

 Re: Transformers 2
I loved the first transformers, the acting/humour was superb and the action was AMAZING. I was super anxious for transformers 2 and after about an hr I was anxious to leave. I couldn't take it anymore, everything was stepped up to a bad degree. Too loud, too much action, too much horrendous jokes and way too many robots! Half the time i was trying to figure out whos who and there were so many plot holes that bugged me, this all being in the first hr alone. There were three characters that I truly DETESTED, the twin robots and that greasy haired buffoon of roommate, it doesn't get any more annoying than those three. GAHHH and when all three of them were in the same scene I wanted to kill myself.
