I enjoy gardening, and I was wondering. What do other Goths have in their gardens? What themes do they follow? what are the plants they wish they had, what odd little statues do they have in their yards, or wish they did?

so... What do you?

The plants I have are:

Roses. A violet mini rose, a dark almost black mini rose,
and a one year old bush called a linkin(sp?) rose I think. It's covered with tiny thorns, and has deep burgundy flowers that have a sweet, subtle scent.

Bulbs. I have red tulips, yellow daffodils, purple almost black tulips, and white Easter lilies. and white calla lilies.

Perennials: Bee balm, Primroses, blue bonnets and... Red bonnets? they're just like BBs, only they're red. Red and Yellow Canna lilies,
A pink Hibiscus, Mint, and purple Iris.

Trees: a weeping willow, a apple tree (not sure what kind) a southern Mongolia.

Annuals: I only have one. I moon flower vine. I can't wait till summer, I can smell the flowers now.

Plants I wish I had: A monkey puzzle tree. Flowering tabaco,
A REAL Black rose. A blue rose, A deep purple rose, A black sweet potato vine, and many many more plants but I'm drawing a blank now.

Theme: I really Really want a moon garden. I love spending time outdoors at night. With a lot of fragrant white flowers... Oh, if only I had money.

Statues: I really want a graveyard angel. Or maybe a fake headstone. Or a big Celtic cross. or maybe a sundial.

I sadly don't have any statues at the moment as they are extremely expensive, and I don't have much money.

So, there we go. Please excuse my horrible spelling, and my inability
to explain things clearly.

So, now, what's in your garden?

I have always wanted a wild english garden full of wildflowers and climbing ivy and moss gravel paths. Think the Secret garden. I don't really have the outdoor space to do a proper garden though sadly.

All I have right now are tres neglected Snapdragons in my garden. They are supposed to be annuals, but due to the climate here they act like perennials. I am hoping when we move in June I can start up a nice herb and veggie garden. If not, I may resort to a window herb garden at the very least. Nothing like growing your own Basil.

Basil grows very easily! though I can go through the stuff fairly quickly.
I have a small patch of ground. I hesitate to call it a garden because it's only 3 feet by 10 feet - but I'm lucky to have that in front of an apartment. The plants that have the easiest time there are various shapes of succulents. That's because I'm in SoCal - basically in the desert - and I've got clayey soil and a southern exposure, so everything gets baked. Other people manage to grow far more types of plants, but it takes a lot of work to make sure the soil is kept up (mix in planting soil with what's there, keep fertilized, watered) and I need to work on that. But succulents are much easier and come in many interesting shapes and shades. Plus with the D-word looming overhead (that's drought for those of you in wetter climates)...I could call my plot of ground a "xeriscape", just to sound impressive . That just means it's made up of plants that don't need much water.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any lizards...those would be nice visitors to have.

That's a wonderful idea. A nice little escape. With lots of clover to lay in, instead of nasty prickly grass. Clovers take less water, ya know. It's a crying shame. Every person should have a space that they can plant a few things. It's basic human nature to want to grow something beautiful. Maybe one day you'll have the space snow.

I've never had the pleasure to try basil. But I'm sure it's delightful.



I have these little lizards that are green, and they kind of have a head like an alligator. the little monsters get huge. they get to be about six inches long.
I LOVE succulents. most of my potted plants are suckies.
I had those stupid baby toes too. Back two years ago we had a massive rain storm, I left them outside, and they rotted. I didn't even have them for three months.

Anyone have living stones? Those little plants are awesome.



Heehee. Hawks are beautiful. But not when they're eating rabbits.

We get those around here too - I remember seeing one sitting on a telephone pole, with a mockingbird attacking it. Mockingbirds can scare ravens, but the hawk just sat there unperturbed.

Yes! Again, I had them two years ago. They died the same way the baby toes did.



Staying fit so they can please the lady lizards? who knows why animals do things.

In my garden (which is tiny, only 1m by 1m square) I have three brocolli plants, a patch of carrots, lettuce, and a cauliflower. I've just harvested the last of my tomatoes, so I'm about to plant more carrots. I've got two ceramic pots where I've got another tomato plant (about one week away from harvest) and a mint plant. And I've also got an old recycling bin which has two more cauliflower plants in it.

I love gardening. It's so satisfying eating veges you've grown yourself.

Mmmmmm... Fresh broccoli. Yummness.

Fresh homegrown veggies are one of the best simple pleasures.

We revamped our garden last summer as a family. For now, we have some native plants and flowers (and it's really awesome because we've attracted a lot more species of butterflies last summer), but we're planning on extending our graden every summer, so that eventually our backyard will be one huge field of native foliage (and my mom wants to plant a sub-garden based on vegetables). I wanna talk my family into either a)planting a tree, b)making a pond, or c)making a rain garden.

Can't wait for the days to get warmer.

That's awesome what your family is doing! More people should do that. Bet you have a lot of Birdies too.

In SA, the heat is unbearable at times. Plants usually grow best in the shade.

In the Garden:

Red and pink rose bushes (Were there when we got there)
Alot of palm trees (Bamboo palm, fan palm etc)
Baby's breath.
Asparagus.
All sorts of herbs. I enjoy planting herbs.

A bunch of other plants that just make the place look green!

Sadly, I cannot grow a garden in my current living situation. When I am able to to I will first and foremost grow medicinal and culinary herbs. I also would like to grow some veggies such as peas, carrots, and peppers. I could also go for a plum or peach tree.
