 Goth/Gothic Quotes
I thought it will be nice to find out what quotes people use and to adopt one. Tell us about your favorite quotes - from "Sisters of Mercy" till whatever new Darkwave group you like. I'll start: "Are you listening to your fear?" P.S. sorry if such thread already exists (give a link)...

---"Loneliness sometimes gives me a quantity of creativeness - you're drinking another glass of wine and you're feeling even worse. Art doesn't work without pain; art also exists for compensating pain." - Till Lindemann ---"Evil is a point of view." - Anne Rice ---"Man cannot make a worm, yet he will make gods by the dozen." - Michel Eyquem de Montaigne ---"Art is the single seed that either feeds or destroys the world. Art is God." - Clown Just a few that jumped out at me/have been with me for a while.

 Re: Goth/Gothic Quotes
I think the entire first Sopor Aeternus interview is like one big gothic quote Anyways, Anna has doozies of them, as does Rozz. I'll post them when I sift through them......

 Re: Goth/Gothic Quotes
Quote: "....tell me what dreams may come....." -Carl McCoy, Fields of the Nephilim Just thought I'd add that Carl McCoy apparently owes a lot to my favorite quote maker: Quote: To die: to sleep; No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us pause: there's the respect That makes calamity of so long life;
--William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act III, scene 1

 Re: Goth/Gothic Quotes
Oh! You've made me remember this:
"Tired with all these, for restful death I cry, As, to behold desert a beggar born, And needy nothing trimm'd in jollity, And purest faith unhappily forsworn, And guilded honour shamefully misplaced, And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted, And right perfection wrongfully disgraced, And strength by limping sway disabled, And art made tongue-tied by authority, And folly doctor-like controlling skill, And simple truth miscall'd simplicity, And captive good attending captain ill: Tired with all these, from these would I be gone, Save that, to die, I leave my love alone." Shakespeare - Sonnet 66.

 Re: Goth/Gothic Quotes
I find myself constantly chanting "Don't feel no contamination", which is one of the lyrics from the song Preacher Man. I don't think that would really classify as a 'Gothic' quote though. Poe has bunches of quotes that fit the term (obviously ), but that little part of The Raven "....only this and nothing more..." stands out to me for some reason. Hmm, I may put that as my Myspace headline.

 Re: Goth/Gothic Quotes
"From childhood's hour I have not been As others were; I have not seen As others saw; I could not bring My passions from a common spring. From the same source I have not taken My sorrow; I could not awaken My heart to joy at the same tone; And all I loved, I loved alone. Then- in my childhood, in the dawn Of a most stormy life- was drawn From every depth of good and ill The mystery which binds me still: From the torrent, or the fountain, From the red cliff of the mountain, From the sun that round me rolled In its autumn tint of gold, From the lightning in the sky As it passed me flying by, From the thunder and the storm, And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue) Of a demon in my view. "
Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
I love the Sopor Aeternus version of this.
