 Re: My Chemical Romance
I've been wondering about these guys for a long time. Wasn't sure I liked them or not. But never could 'not' check it out... and I have always wondered why. Last night I watched clips from Clockwork Orange set to House of Wolves. After that, I went through several other renegade clips by fans in that web. Then back tracked and watched a 'live clip' of Wolves.
Sold. I got it. I think it's frigging brilliant. I think what bugged me was the simplicity and clean 'emptiness' with out the layered studio crap. The work that's been shoved down our throats for years to cover up lack of relationship to the instruments. The live clip cleared all that right up for me.
In my opinion - if it's worth anything - Let them FEAR THEIR OWN CHILDREN!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I dislike most Pop-Rock/Pop Punk bands out there. It's just not my bag. I couldn't agree more. I think they lack skill and try to appeal to the current taste of the young consumer.

 Re: My Chemical Romance
I actually like My Chemical Romance...not The Black Parade but the first two albums. The first one had like this raw post-punk sound to it. It's one of those albums that most people would who don't like them would actually respect it if they had actually heard it. Lots of the teeny-boppers that chase around My Chemical Romance now won't listen to it because they think it's too "weird" for them. And the second one was so frantic but elegant in this really strange way.
I was really let down by The Black Parade though...there wasn't anything extraordinary about it to me.

I am almost spartan in my refusal to indulge in whatever takes my fancy - I buy what I need to accomplish something. Thanks.

You don't like having musicians make music which suit your taste and make it available to you?

Thanks. Winter, what Walkingstick seems to be saying is, if there is music you like and listen to, you have in fact succumbed to marketing and if you have purchased it, you have succumbed to consumerism. If you have taken it without purchase (not via a gift) that's stealing, which is another argument altogether. What isn't being said, of course, is that you can't judge others in this sort of thing without also judging yourself. And, apart from that, I think the both of you are taking this thread way off topic with this obtuse, high-handed "I'm not a consumerist" crap, and if you want to discuss consumerism and marketing, it should have its own thread.

 Re: My Chemical Romance
I'm actually a huge fan of MCR. I don't think they're emo in the least. People just say that because they wear black and they sing differently from others. Its not the best voice I've heard, but they have a helluva sound.

 Re: My Chemical Romance
I think they're pretty good. I'm not a fan of their newer stuff, and I've seen them live... I personally don't think he can sing too well live, but I still like them anyway. Not one of my favorite bands, but I do like them, yes.

 Re: My Chemical Romance
It happens. People just have different tastes. I can't stomach Emos. As people, they are a waste of time and a waste of space. Emo music, on the other hand, I do enjoy at times. I don't cry alongside Gerard, the music doesn't piss me off like some people, but I think good tunes is good tunes. They call themselves Metal? Now THAT is what really sets me off. It's like seeing Miley Cyrus call herself 'Rock' when she is obviously pop; Or Jonas brothers with their awful poser lyrics.

Obviously you haven't read The Rules or you wouldn't have rezzed a thread this old just to bash on emos. I advise you to do some reading before you post (and step in it) again.
