That is just the sickest thing I have ever heard... This kind of thing makes me physiclay ill. These are the kinds of people that made me loose faith in humanity.

Ugh; honestly how did the wife "not know" about it. I hope that man rots.

Re: "House of Horrors" Father imprisons daughter for 24 years
This story is shocking. The psychological damage to Elisabeth and her children must be extreme - to be imprisoned for 24 years, without seeing daylight, and them to be violated in the way that she was by her father. Not only that, but she had seven children, one of whom died - no one could begin to imagine how much she must be suffering right now.
I'm not sure how all of this will impact on Mr. Fritzl's wife either, or how this will affect the children as they get older.

How she ''didn't know'' is one fo the most shocking aspects to the story, I think. As many articles regarding this have been stating, this is the second high-profile case of sexual abuse while being imprisoned in Austria in two years. I'm sure everyone remembers the Natasha Kampusch case. Why Austria?...

My grandmother once told me that she didn't believe in heaven, but she thought there should be a hell.
I'm starting to see her point of view.

How she ''didn't know'' is one fo the most shocking aspects to the story, I think. I was left wondering how she wouldn't have known either - especially given the time period. I don't believe that she had no idea that at least something was going on, even if she didn't know 'exactly' what her husband was doing. Perhaps she was too frightened to say anything, or some other reason along that line. Considering whar Mr. Fritzl did to his own daughter, I wouldn't be surprised if he threatened his wife in some way. She might have known exactly what was happening, but on the other hand, she really might have been oblivious to what was happening in the cellar: Quote: The security chief for Lower Austria, Franz Prucher, said he had been down into the cellar where it was easy to understand how the abuse was not discovered." Although it is a little hard to believe.

Wow. Who even thinks of something like that? I, too, am suprised that his wife didn't know anything about it... though she could just be saying that to keep herself out of trouble.

And when he brought the children to the house he told the wife it was their missing daughter who had appeared and left the kids there...yeah right.
Incredible that something like that happened for so long.

Re: "House of Horrors" Father imprisons daughter for 24 years
If something like this happened in the U.S., it really wouldn't surprise me based on what I have learned and seen of people who prefer to "keep out of it".
What kind of sick fuck would think not only that it's a good idea to lock up and rape his own daughter, but also go to all that trouble to conceal her for so long? It makes me wonder what else is happening out there in the world like this that no one knows about.
And to think this (I can't even think of a fitting term) fathered 6 children with his own daughter. I cannot even begin to fathom what she must have gone through having to give birth to her children while trapped in that basement without any hope of ever seeing the light of day again. Those poor kids. I wonder what the future holds for them. Imagine never seeing anything more than the inside of a small apartment for 18 years. They must be overwhelmed.
I hope this guy dies a slow, horribly painful death. Normally I am remiss to wish serious harm to a person, but this case warrants nothing less IMO.

It has horse- and dog-breeding connotations and hence conveys the impartial and morally... well, "questionable" doesn't cover it but it's the best I can do, implications of the whole issue.

Re: "House of Horrors" Father imprisons daughter for 24 years
Interesting enough I read in some (German) sources that the Austrians think about reintroducing the death penalty... Furthermore Natascha Kampbusch announced her will to speak with the victims and offered help from her side. Well, I am not sure if that is a good idea since she is surely still struggling with her own situation.
I, too, wonder how his wife could not suspect anything strange in the cellar going on, which she and the rest of the children living in the house were forbidden to enter. In addition that man provided food and clothes and what not for the four people living in the basement for more than 20 years - how can that not be noticed? One point might be the fact he had six "official" children plus three from his daughter so maybe at least the need for clothes might have appeared normal to strangers. Its also not clear to me how he was able to hide the stuff he bought for the four over the whole time period without making any mistake. This and many other questions...
Today our media reported that the case is "solved", the suspect confessed his cruelties and the family is taken care for by professionals.
