 On me
Eddings, Redemption of Althalus, which sounds more and more ironic each time I explain it. Since in the time since I picked up this handle, some say in the year two, double aught, one [2001], I have done things that I regret.
I had was signing up to Warhammer Online [Climax one that was axe'd] and needed something fantasyish, which was easy enough as RoA was sitting on my desk after a long trip home.
On irc I go by DeadlyNightshade and its latin name AtropaBelladonna because the description seemed intriguing. [And too much of me will kill ]. It is from the same family as the potato [/randomfact]
[and yes my way of saying the year was ripped from "Kill Bill"]

Heh. Yeah it is.
Twilight and so on are some awesome books. I'm usually not one to read much romance. But if it involves vampires or anything related to them, I'll like it. But we're getting off the topic here.
The name Edward means Guardian.

[off topic] I got curious for some reason, so I looked up Name Origin for Edward. You might be interested to know that it is "Wealth Guardian". From what I could find it is apparently from the Old English words ead meaning wealth and weard meaning to guard. How appropriate for so many English Kings[/off topic]

No kidding. I just found Guardian everywhere I looked. But Wealth Guardian...not so poetic.
Where did you find that by the way?

Google. Babynames.com and Wikipedia came up first, and then I looked up the old English origins to verify.

Thanks.
I've gotta look at that.
Can't believe my boring name is Of Creation. Kinda cool, but I still hate my name's so common.
-Edit-
Okay, never mind.
Means God is gracious....

I'll explain: when my brother was little, he had a speech impediment (he was tongue-tied) and couldn't pronounce "Jordan", my real name. He always called me something that sounded more like "go-one". "Go" is the Japanese word for the number 5, and one is obviously English for 1. So, 5+1 or 51, VI is the Roman numeral for 6, LI is the roman number for 51. I chose Vi because the letter V is the first letter of my last name. So, it's a pun on my name in a roundabout way. I like it because it's short and simple, but still personal. What do you think? Edit: Just to clarify, I'm thinking it should be pronounced like the letter "V". Not as the actual Roman numeral, but as a two-letter name.

Amusing how you came across that, but quite a long explaination for a 2-letter (or 2 Numeral, so to say) username.

Re: What does your name mean?
By sheer astonishing coincidence, I too bear the moniker VI, often seen as 6. This is for two reasons: my initials are VI, and my number when playing footie was 6. Mo' fun coincidences include being sixth up for batting in my first game for the 1st XI and hitting a six on my sixth ball. (Ok, that part was a slight exaggeration. I actually hit a 6 on my third ball.) Yes, I play cricket. Your point?

Re: What does your name mean?
I wanted my name to be associated with the night so Nocturn was the first part of my name created. Atum is an egyptian god who you can read about on wikipedia... I found his story quite amusing and wanted to add that name to my name. I'm happy with my name except I think that if pepole actually spend the time to read about Atum they might question my sexuality and whether I perform autofellatio with myself. Just for the record "I can't do it anymore."

Ender wrote: I was thinking "Vi". If you do, I'd be prepared for a lot of jabs from people familiar with the UNIX text editor 'vi' (which is pretty ubiquitous in the unix world). Its one of the most common flame wars in the unix world (vi vs. emacs). My name was actually 'given' to me. First, its a shortening of my real name (Preston, which I am sure you all knew). Most people called me Pres anyway (I'm from Australia, if its not said in one syllable, it soon will be). However back in the BBS days, I was a member on several BBS's, and the SysOp of one board gave me an honorific, the 'Z' trailing my name, making it PreZ. The Z is called an 'Arcadian Z', because it was used by long-term (and usually higher up) members of the Arcadia BBS, and must be capitalized. By convention, it was an honorific that must be given, not taken (ie. you would get flamed to hell and back if you put one on your own nickname). The name kind of stuck and I've used it ever since, including the capital Z. I've now used PreZ (most friends IRL also call me PreZ) for going on 18 years. OK, I feel old now

 Re:
I always liked your username PreZ, since it was a variation on your real name, but I wondered about that capital Z. And here some of us were thinking you got cUtE with the spelling. For me, one of the strangest moments having an "online persona" was the time someone actually recognized me from my comic. She shouted, "Hey Lady A!" to get my attention. I responded to it because I realized that, yes, she meant me, but it took a moment for my brain to shift into gear. I’m not used to being called "Lady A" aloud. nuksaa wrote: But where do you derive "Lady" from? My drag show. Where else? ~ Dude looks like a Lady A

Re: What does your name mean?
My name Darevere was a name from a video game that I used to play... (World Of Warcraft) I had a pet sukkubus. And every pet in that game had randomly generated names. Since I loved that game I got used to the name.
Nowadays I don't play video games so I don't enjoy the name very much.

Re: What does your name mean?
It is a really cool name though. I recently looked up my neice's name, and it (Delilah) means "One who Weakens"
Interesting that.
