Just wondering what people think about the clothing line Tripp Nyc? Personally I love it.

It reminds me of Hot Topic, which I dislike a great deal.

When googling for Tripp NYC - I discovered Hot Topic sell Tripp NYC branded clothes.

I had a little look, but to be honest, it makes me think of some of my sister's 15 year old friends. I personally don't think it's very original or exciting, and while they might have a few nice items here and there, but it's definately not something I would choose to wear. (I prefer a trusty pair of jeans and, as it's cold over here in the UK, a jumper)

Store-bought punk.  If it can be mass manufactured, it's not really screaming "I'm an individual" is it?  I think it defeats the purpose of choosing clothes that are supposed to be making a statement, as undoubtedly Tripp clothes are supposed to be.  In this case, they seem to state "Made in a China sweatshop."

...I may buy Tripp clothing if I found it at Goodwill though (and only if it goes with my coat).

Over priced, and poor quality.

I don't like those baggy parachute bondage pants.

I actually want one, and ONLY one pair of Tripp pants. I like an extremely baggy pair of jeans for my bloated/lazy days, but they're hard to find in other stores, unless they're mens. Meanwhile I saw some Tripp pants that were black and purple, and they were mens (but didn't look it).
Other than that, I'd just get the one pair and be content. Nothing else appeals to me.

I have a pair that a friend of mine gave me because he doesn't wear them anymore.  I took the chains off and use them as lounge pants because they are quite comfortable; they feel like the camo pants I got from an army surplus store years ago but cannot wear anymore due to weight gain.  

Other than that I do not much care for them.  I found instructions online years ago for making bondage pants yourself but didn't care much for the look.  My husband likes them though so I told him if i can find the intructions again I'll make him a pair or two but to leave the Tripp pants alone.  They cost too much and just overall they bother me.

For some reason I've always hated Tripp pants...they just don't appeal to me. I might buy some stuff they sell, though, to mix with pieces from elsewhere so as to avoid the goth-off-the-racks look.

I actually have a few things from Tripp that I've been surprisingly happy with. Mainly their pants. Had em for years and thus far they've held up.  I think I may also have a top or two lying about.  I don't think their stuff is all that horrible, really.  Maybe the quality has dropped in the past couple of years? I think the last Tripp stuff I bought was when I still lived in NH, so about 4 years ago.

I bought a pair of Tripp pants years back, when I was first trying to get a feel for myself, so to speak. At the time, I honestly loved them. Sure, even then I could see that they were over-priced. And I immediately deduced from a few minor defects that they were mass produced in a sweatshop somewhere. But I thought they were cool, and that trumped all at the time.

Quality wise, I wouldn't say they're *quite* as horrendous as Luna claims. Yeah, they're not great, but they will last a while even if you wear them to death. The main thing I think is just to pay a bit of attention to not getting yourself snagged on random objects, because that *will* damage them if you're not careful.

These days, I'm well over them. They lost their appeal pretty quickly when I saw some of the far better stuff you could buy/make. Still, they are pretty comfortable, and I usually lounge around in them and a black Kimono I picked up in Japan, creating a bit of an amusing "bondage samurai" look.

So... My opinion on them; I wouldn't recommend buying them unless they're on sale, and then I'd only do it if you've got the right clothes to wear with them so as not to look utterly ridiculous. They're comfortable, and admittedly sort of fun (You jingle!) but it can be hard to be taken seriously in them and they're a pain in the ass to maneuver yourself in.

Honestly though, I would tell anyone who asked me whether they should buy them or not to give them a pass. Shop around a little more, and you can do better for cheaper.

This past Halloween, I must say, I was impressed with what I found from Tripp NYC.  Due to the film Marie Antoinette, Tripp released a Victorian inspired line.  My other found the most goregous vitorian styled coat; shockingly by Tripp NYC at a local Hot Topic in a suburb of Chicago.

Though, some of those cheesy plastic skull buttons could be replaced, some lace trimming could be sewn into it to make it more authentic, I am still impressed nonetheless.  Tripp has their good momments; as well as their bad.  It's usually a seasonal thing.

I actually own a good few clothes of Tripp, although they are like nothing sold in Hot Topic. A store here, Trash & Vaudeville, is stock full of Tripp clothing and it's a far cry from the Tripp in Hot Topic. My favorite sweater, black with spiderweb print all over is from Tripp and bought in Trash & Vaudeville. I'm guessing Hot Topic chooses select items from Tripp?

Well, what i think it actually is, is that Hot Topic gets them to makes some of their clothing out of cheaper materials so, they can buy it cheaper & sell it for more profit.
As I have bought a tripp corset a while back at a small store called phase id' and it was made out of a silky black material covered in lace, with real steel boning. I almost couldn't believe it was tripp after having to go to hot-topic with my little cousin. =P

Darevere, I know what you mean about PhaseId's merchandise in comparison to Hot Topic. My mom picked me up some nice Lip Service tops (one of them a corset top) from there, and for better quality and pricing than anything from Hot Topic, too.
