Intimate Calavera
I've had less time & energy for creativity after the downsizing @ work, but I've finished another one for you. The main development in this piece is the fashioning of the bones from translucent Sculpy (the skulls too) instead of cutting them from sucker sticks because I needed "warmer" skeletons to match the orange border. Also I sewed this one on felt that has glitter mixed in it, though it doesn't show up in the resized-for-Photobucket version you're seeing. The glitter enhances the atmospheric effect of all that empty space.
Do you think this one's romantic?

Oh! I love it! (I think I've said that about everyone of your pieces so far, haven't I? )
My boy toy Ducky wants to know if you're planning on selling any of these. He really liked this last one you did.

Thank you!
Of course I'd love to show and sell them, so I could spend more time on them and less on just bringin' in the bucks. I've beginning to research the art "scene" here (there ain't much in ole' Ken-tuck), now that I have somewhat of a body of work. They're in a bit of an odd niche though, since they're more art than craft but of a motif that will primarily attract an alternative demographic.

You could always try Etsy. It's an online marketplace for crafts and artwork, and it's free to join.
I'm not a member myself, so I don't know how much business it would actually bring you, but it couldn't hurt to post the pieces you already have put together.

Hehehee, Inky, I love the last link you posted. It's so typical goth, yet cutesy. LOL.

Thanks, chico/a. Don't know if "cutesy" is what I'm going for, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I'll check out the Etsy site, though if this is typical of it's offerings, it may not be the right place for me (yeesh).

After a lo-ong break, here's my latest calavera: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l248/MsJSCasey/busstopcalavera.jpgBecause this one's made mostly out of obdurate materials mounted on rubber, the pieces are glued on rather than sewn, and to unify the natural shell and implied bone of the skeleton, I wired him together: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l248/MsJSCasey/busstopskeleton.jpg. I love his little hands.

Wow it's great. Bravery ^^ Some are more expressive as the paint with the blue dress, with the hanging stars and the one with the black wings.

Merci. You're right: some are more design-oriented, and others are more emotive.
