damn i live in gary, by lake michigan....this state sucks, cant wait til i move..:D

<sarcasm> Yeah. I feel sorry for you. </sarcasm>

You've just said an entire state "sucks" based upon one city -- one of it's worst, in my opinion.

Yeah. Most of Indiana is pretty quiet, flat, and boring. But I'm sick of people saying the entire state sucks. It doesn't. No, we don't have cities like NYC or LA, but if you look, there is stuff to do. It's not where I want to live for the rest of my life either, but what's the point in complaining about it constantly?

And excuse me if I don't exactly feel sorry for someone who lives in a city 30 miles from Chicago (distance from city center to city center, approx 45 minute drive). If you can't find things to do, I'm sorry, but I have to assume you just aren't looking.

Ok let me rivise it then for you...

I lived in Indianpolis..

I lived in South Bend...

I lived in Evansville (by Ky if you dont know)..

Gary isnt as bad as you think..maybe for you...and who said I dont find things to do...hmm not me, I said it sucks, I didnt say it was boring, that there was nothing to do, there was no excitement..hmm...maybe Im missing something? :dunno:

THE ENTIRE STATE OF INDIANA SUCKS! Chicago is a different story, but thats not Indiana (which I assume you know) Its my opinion Mod. Nothing more.

Late post because I dont visit this "cool" place that much but hey I get bored sometimes picking corn..its the only thing in Indiana they say

<sarcasm>

Whoa I have 10 posts, Im cooking now.

Wow, you're a genius, aren't you?

If you'd actually read the posts in this thread, you'd know I live in Evansville.

And I wasn't the one saying Gary sucked (beyond a simple, non-complaining statement that I don't hold a high opinion of the city). You were. And I merely pointed out that it's not far from Chicago -- not that Chicago is in Indiana (since it is, obviously, in my home state of Illinois).

Let me spell out my point: Stop complaining about your boring little life and, instead, go out and do something. We don't want to hear it, and complaining doesn't change it.

So cut the attitude and quit bitching.

Next bitchfest about how boring an area is -- from anyone -- earns a pip. I'm tired of it.

If people are still looking for folks in Michigan, a good thing to do would be to buy tickets for the Detroit NIN/Bauhaus show on June 25th (go to http://www.bauhausmusik.com/tourdates/index.html). I'm sure you could meet some cool people in your area there. Heck, I might be there -- I live in Western Ohio, but my fiancee is over the border in Michigan (we saw Bauhaus in Detroit last November too).

I know of 2 events that can be considered Goth in Indianapolis.

Both are held at a venue called "The Vault"

The weekly event held on Thursdays is described as

THURSDAYS - Strange Days - Indy's only regular Gothic & Industrial night hosted by Mister E DJ & Zlaya, as well as rotating guests DJ Rony & DJ Coppertop. 9pm $3is

The Main Event is called Wicked Wednesdays which is kind of a Goth Theme Party environment. They have everything ranging from Fetish Nights to Booty Nights (which is still very Goth) During the event there is a lot of good industrial music, plenty of dancing, booths for gothic attire & etc, and a benefit slave auction.

For the August Wicked Wednesday they had a special guest appearance by Ron Jeremy.

It's good stuff, though I am keeping my eye out for more events. In specific, weekend events.

I have not been to Detroit in a long, long, time and even when I was it was only to play a gig there. Seemed a little rough but that's OK.

Anyway, "Michiana" yeah. Been there. Did not live there but visited or uh.... uh.....yeah. OK. Let's leave it at that.

Cows, corn, some creepy woods, ....

That's about it, for that time anyway. Around 1992. Maybe it's changed since then. I am sure there is SOMETHING of interest there nowadays.

I live in Grand Blanc Michigan (Genesee county, right next to Flint). To be the odd one out, I don't think Michigan is boring at all. I love Michigan. Maybe I only love it so much because I have moved out of state before and found that place boring though... haha.

Well, I've been looking at the gothic culture since I was in seventh grade (I'm in tenth now) and I have loved everything about it since I first started looking. I really do think it defines who I am, and I am wrapped up in it. I am just now starting to wear the black clothing, I would have been sooner if my mother would have opened her mind a bit more, and I am making new friends. Recently I've been having more fun and enjoying every moment of it. There are still things I need to figure out and work on, but I do like it a lot.

You can probably tell that I am really new. haha. Sorry about that. :D

There are a couple other in GB, but I'm to shy to go up and talk to them. Any help would be loved!

I live in Wisconsin now, but I grew up in South Bend. :) I never saw a whole lot of Gothic life there back then. I don't know what it's like these days.

Yes, there is. At least here in the metro-Detroit area.

There is:

Leland City Club in Detroit (Open every Friday and Saturday as someone previously said)
The Labyrinth, which is located on the other side of the Leland (right by City Club)
Luna in Royal Oak (Wednesdays are gothic/industrial night)
Necto in Ann Arbor (Factory Mondays)
The Ritz in Warren (Disgeneration Disco on Thursdays)
Mephisto's in Hamtramck (I think it's there, at least)
And we can't forget about DEMF, which usually draws a lot of people.

I live in Riverdale, MI. It's like 20 minutes from Alma. I live in the middle of knowhere...and I'm the only goth in my school. Actually, I've never met another Goth, even when I travel to the city.

Surprised I haven't responded to this thread when I first signed up, but I live in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit.

I'm pretty sure there are goths in the neighboring suburbs and Detroit as well. But since Detroit is one of those bitch cities where you need a car to do ANYTHING - and since I don't have one - I don't get out much to meet any other goths. Contrary to what certain people have said so far about Michigan, it is a pretty interesting place to live in by far. I personally think it's one of those states that you come to enjoy not the civilization, but the natural aspects. We have so much wilderness here it's crazy (fun crazy!). But there are some activities here to do in the cities as well. If you have a car. And preferably, if it's not winter.

(This will all change one day, me not having a car. Soon...)

Are there any industrial/goth clubs in the Indy area? Farthest I can afford to drive, in any given directions is about 1.5 hours.
