The final Routemaster journey leaves Oxford Street at 12.10pm on Friday, terminating at Brixton bus garage.

i think this is one of the saddest things that could happen to london.. add this to the loss of clasic english red phoneboxes and whats left to let you know that your in london?
it would be like removing all the yellow taxi from newyork..
what are your thoughts

That's a shame...
Still, they're going to keep a few but only use them on "heritage routes" (whatever they are.) I can see why they're doing it, but it'll still be sad to see the Routemasters go...
Is the new model they're replacing it with gonna basically be the same but with disabled access, or is it going to be completely different?

unfortunatly they will be replaced with the newest version which is nothing like the old open routemasters heres a pic

could be worse could replace them with those bendy buses.

yeah bendy buses suck there like 2 single deck buses joined at the center with a bendy bit... here is a picture

At least they're still double-decker. I'd heard that they were going to replace them all with bendy buses. Ugh.

But I agree, it's a shame.

(Man, seeing those pictures makes me miss London. Sigh...)

They won´t even use them in museums or exhibitions? I never was in London so far and am really upset to hear they intend to change busses. Hm I need to go on that "heritage routes".. if I know by then what that means..

im certain there will be routemaster buses in most transport museums in the uk and that they will apear for special events but sadly wont be part of everyday london life :(

I went on one today after I Finshed work. Wasn't going where I wanted to go but just felt like I needed to ride one, one last time.
