The final Routemaster journey leaves Oxford Street at 12.10pm on Friday, terminating at Brixton bus garage.
full story HERE
i think this is one of the saddest things that could happen to london.. add this to the loss of clasic english red phoneboxes and whats left to let you know that your in london?
it would be like removing all the yellow taxi from newyork..
what are your thoughts

That's a shame...
Still, they're going to keep a few but only use them on "heritage routes" (whatever they are.) I can see why they're doing it, but it'll still be sad to see the Routemasters go...
Is the new model they're replacing it with gonna basically be the same but with disabled access, or is it going to be completely different?

At least they're still double-decker. I'd heard that they were going to replace them all with bendy buses. Ugh.
But I agree, it's a shame.
(Man, seeing those pictures makes me miss London. Sigh...)

It's official. The routemaster is now gone for good.

They won´t even use them in museums or exhibitions? I never was in London so far and am really upset to hear they intend to change busses. Hm I need to go on that "heritage routes".. if I know by then what that means..
~Raya, feeling sorry not to have visited "the old" London
