And the point of this is what? Do you actually want to find out if there are other goths with Native American ancestry or do you just want to bitch about your parents don't understand you?

I got a bit of Lakota on my mum`s side....

I must agree with Darkest`s observation though, a complaint about parents doesn`t do well for a topic introduction.

And although I may not be one of the only goths with native blood, I`m starting to wonder if I`m one of the few here who DOESN`T still live with their parents?? (noting the high level of "what do your parents think....?" posts)

There are many here who don't live with their parents. It may just be there is little call for "What does your spouse think?" or "Who lives alone?" *shrug* Not that there's need for the questions about parents' opinions either, IMO.

Luna - whose husband has Lenape ancestry, but isn't goth

Well, I have little bits of Native American blood on my mother's side (if there is any on my dad's, we don't know it yet). I have a Lenape (Delaware) ancestor as well as possibly a Mingo and Seneca one. This is still just speculation, but one of my ancestors may have been a Shoshoni girl who was brought East to attend the Carlisle Indian School in PA. My boyfriend has a slightly larger percentage of Lenape blood and is part of a Native American education group called League of Separated Tribes.

This is quite an interesting thread, I'm actually learning about Native Amricans in History right now ^_^
However being from a purely English family I unfortunately am not in the slightest Native American or in that matter American (:

Well, statistically..if your family has been in North America for at least 200 years-you have Native American in you somewhere. There was such a long ugly period where Native people pretended to be "Italian" or "Black Irish" to avoid persecution, that genealogy can be fairly innacurate for proving or disproving your lineage. Most of my African -American friends acknowledge this, though, and the closest tribe -the Lumbee- clearly hid and intermarried with runaway slaves(almost to the point where they've had trouble maintaining "native" status with other tribes)
Silibo~ who has ancestors rumored to be Ojibway and/or Iroquois, but you could never tell from looking at her.

I also come from a Native American decent. But I couldent tell you what tribe for the life of me. It really cool though because a lot of the Nativer American features show up in my face and in the pigment of my skin. Im very proud of it to tell you the truth. :)

I'm Black-Sicilian myself, but I have East Coast [Southeastern Virginia and North Carolina] Cherokee Indian ancestors. I was fortunate enough to have met/live with 1 of them as a small child. My great-grandmother, Lucille Banks-Jones [Granny, as we used to call her] was full-blooded Cherokee Indian. And for the record, I didn't know American Indian Gothics existed.

I'm 1/8 Commanche on my father's side and I (supposedly) have some Cheeroke and Blackfoot on mom's side.I've been told we have a fair bit of 'black Dutch' and 'black Irish' on mom's side.I always wondered what that meant? But mom's maiden name is most certainly Irish.

My husband also has some Apache blood, but he's not goth.
:P

It generally means the ancestors run dark in their colouring (hair, mostly) as opposed to those with fairer complexions and colouring.

I have Cherokee ancestors on both sides of my family. I'm not sure how much (we don't know that much about my fathers family), but it's enough to show.

Well, it looks as if little bits count in this thread, so I guess I can reply.

You'd never know from looking at me (except I'm told I look, and I quote "native around the nose") but I'm part Iroquois and part Mi'qmaq . Before you break your brains trying to work that one out, my mother's side of the family is from southwestern ontario, and my father's side is from the maritimes/gaspe region. I've never really worked out with any degree of accuracy what percentage the blood runs too....it's difficult, coming from two different sides like it does, but I can't think it would be any more than 1/10 (which, were it not two different sides of the family contributing, would make absolutely no sense). Probably less.

Hardly enough to count, I guess, but I do take a small bit of pride in it, like I take pride in all my various and sundry ancestries.
