Introducing:

The Haken Continuum.

It's basically a MIDI controller, but with several different axes of control, on one pad, sort of like the Korg Kaoss Pad, but bigger.

Take a look at some of the examples, especially the videos - this thing is really cool.

Jordan Rudess (Homepage) is using one in the new Dream Theater album (Homepage), and i'm really looking forward to hearing what he does it it.

Anyways. Your thoughts and feelings on possibly the most unique electronic instrument ever?

Brilliant. Hopefully it will get a few more people interested in microtones. Not nearly enough people experiment with them, although i have noticed a slight increase in interest in them of late.

*notices the sarcasm. Allright, so maybe microtones aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it's still a cool board. bit expensive, though.

No sarcasm at all. I'm a composition student at university and have been exposed to a number of artists writing with microtones in the last few years. The interest i was talking about was with these artists obviously not the usual mainstream artists.
We have some great microtonal instruments at our uni but not many electronic ones apart from programs that need to be programmed before playback and arent really for live music.

Well, for 5k, there aren't a great many of these - I think each one is custom-made as you order it, but what drew me to it originally was just the amount of control you can have, without your finger leaving the pad...

That is really really interesting. I love the idea. I hate the fact that it costs money, otherwise I would definetly be getting my hands on one.
