From what I can see, Rob Zombie isn't exactly a hugely influential, standard-setting musician. Sure, he's pretty good at times, but I wouldn't class anything of his as an essential goth album. Personally, I wouldn't class him as very gothic at all.
I'm not going to be so daring as to make a list at this moment in time, as I'm barely ankle deep in the scene. This was just an observers opinion.
-Matt, who doesn't even count himself as a goth.

Um...Rob ZOMBIE? As the ONE ESSENTIAL GOTH ALBUM? Eek. Really, I don't think it's goth at all--shock rock, or metal, but neither of those things is goth. I mean, I know I had some picks on my list that aren't really goth, but I gave a rationale for all of them, and they weren't the only things I mentioned. I'm not trying to be rude, you understand...but perhaps you should give a listen to some of the other albums mentioned on this thread to enhance your understanding of gothic music.

And, back on-topic: I think I wanna replace my previous Bauhaus choice (I said Mask or Flat Field) with Burning on the Inside. I just downloaded it (because it's Halloween, and you HAVE to listen to Bauhaus on Halloween, right?), and I love it so far. It seems stronger to me than Mask, and more cohesive than Flat Field. But I certainly wouldn't want to end up with *gasp* 16 albums on my list! ;)

Did you actually read the thread topic?

If so, you would have noticed that this thread is asking participates to list fifteen essential goth albums.

Considering you've listed only one album that isn't goth, I would say you've contributed precisely nothing of value to this thread.

And by the way, it's spelled "extremely." When in doubt, use this.

~still attempting to learn enough to compile a list of 15 truly essential and goth albums~
