I was spurred to post this after a certain someone whined several times about how "there is nothing to do and no Goths in North Carolina."It annoyed me into action.
On Saturday October 23rd,2004,
the first annual Eccentrik Festival will be happening at the Brewery in good ol' Raleigh. There will be quite a few DJs, a couple of vendors and handful of lesser known Goth(and related bands) for this all day event.
A listing of the lineup.
I think tickets are 20 bucks...I am looking forward to it! :)

The Eccentrik Festival is a one-day event featuring musicians, DJs, artists, and vendors. The first annual Eccentrik will be held on Saturday, October 23rd in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Brewery and the Cantina.

Spread over these two neighboring venues on Hillsborough Street, the Eccentrik Festival will feature a full day of live music in the Brewery and vendors, artwork, and DJs in the Cantina, with poi (fire-spinning) in the driveway between the two. A burlesque troupe will be featured during one of the DJ sets.

Razed In Black will headline the festival, bringing their blend of hard industrial, coldwave, futurepop and metal to North Carolina for the second time ever.

More Machine Than Man is a multimedia fetish/cyber-goth project featuring performance art as well as guitar-driven industrial dance music.

Opening the live music aspect of the festival will be Raleigh-based electronic duo RJE, an ongoing side project from members of Nomad Project A.V. and enc0der.

Ego Likeness is a female-fronted band out of Baltimore, Maryland that draws comparisons to such diverse groups as Berlin, Concrete Blonde, and Collide.

RED ALL OVER is a female-fronted Charlotte band whose melodic, danceable songs are reminiscent of late-'80s alternative music with a dose of modern European electro-pop.

Oddstar is a self-described "electrogothicspacerock" band from Asheville, North Carolina with an ethereal undercurrent beneath elements of early electronic and darkwave styles. This is a band who could have been at home on the Projekt label, especially during its early days.

Haitian Hate Gods, a self-described industrial funk band out of North Carolina, features female vocals. The band's sound blends driving industrial floor-stompers and soulful slow numbers.

Clockwerk fuses elements of both dark ambient noise and aggressive industrial experimentalism. The Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based trio are inspired by bands such as Clock DVA, Front 242, and Skinny Puppy.

Raleigh's own Threshold 6 is a dark electronic band whose sound ranges from fast-paced and danceable to slinky and seductive.

The DJ lineup includes New York City's DJ Chad Collins as well as a roster of Carolinas DJs that includes DJ Anarathoth, Count Zackula & DJ Konstruct, DJ Kalyx, DJ Kantrip, DJ Nguinn, DJ Scarab, DJ Nareau, DJ Telal, and DJ Zero Anjel.

Items for sale at the vendor tables will include gothic house wares, clothing and accessories, mehendi tattoos, and custom-made fangs.

The Clarion State Capitol is the official hotel of Eccentrik. Rooms are $63 per night; ask for the Eccentrik block of rooms.

Eccentrik Festival
@ The Pour House
Raleigh, North Carolina
Saturday, October 1, 2005

Goth, Industrial and Punk bands will join DJs, artists, vendors, and other performers for the 2nd Annual Eccentrik Festival on October 1st in Raleigh, NC. Eccentrik is described as: "a festival that deviates markedly from the established norm, for people of odd or unconventional behavior." The Pour House on Blount Street in the downtown area will house the daylong festivities.

Eccentrik will host five bands, along with DJs spinning between sets. Artists and vendors will be featured on the second floor. Items for sale at the vendor tables will include anything from gothic clothing and accessories, to custom fangs. Visual artists will be displaying and selling their work in a variety of medias – sculpture, painting, and photography.

VOLTAIRE will headline the festival. This extremely talented man is nearly legendary in the gothic subculture. A modern day Renaissance man, Voltaire explores illustration, stop-motion animation, and music with equal fervor. As a singer/songwriter, his songs speak of love, loss and revenge. Voltaire's live shows are highly theatrical; full of stories and games. Voltaire has released 4 albums with Projekt Records.

BELLA MORTE were founded in 1996 by founding members Gopal Morte and Andy
Deane, Bella Morte made their first break by winning the Virginia Battle of the Bands. Since then, they have been signed with Cleopatra Records and Metropolis Records. Their work is firmly rooted in classic Death Rock.

THE BRIDES were founded by former members of The BrickBats, Corey Gorey and D.W. Friend, The Brides are known for bursts of spooky rock that display up-tempo elements of garage, punk, old school death-rock and pop-sensible choruses. http://www.thebrides.net

An online Battle of the Bands contest will determine the opening act for Eccentrik. The winner, chosen by popular vote, will be announced prior to the October 1st festival.

The previous year's festival featured Fire Spinning, Belly Dancing, a Burlesque troupe, and performances from Razed In Black, Ego Likeness, More Machine Than Man, Oddstar, and Red All Over. With nine DJs spinning, and bringing in vendors and artists from all over the East Coast, the first Eccentrik was a lavish treat. Eccentrik 2005 will continue this high level of quality and opulent excitement - come join the fun!
