Sometimes, I like to ponder what-if's. So, what if the goths of the world decided to start their own country? What's the name of this country? Where is it? What does the flag look like? What are the laws?

Of course this is a silly question, have fun!

Well of course, nudity is a must. But only on every 37th Sunday of the 83rd month.

it might not be a "law," but i'm sure that the waking and working hours would be during the night, with the sleeping hours during the day, generally :p

I saw this topic and had to comment, my friend Kyle already has a plan to make a gothic country. He wants to take over the IRA and use it to take over Europe and rename it Gothicka and he was going to let each of his good friends help him rule and we were gonna each get a certain part of Gothicka. He was going to let me rule France and Solovokia, but I don't think hes gonna use that idea anymore, I think he wants to buy Antartica now.

The flag would just be black of course.

It might be mandatory for all residents to eat Count Chocula cereal on a regular basis.

Yes the flag would definately have to be black.
And I think in this country, university, art supplies and coffee should be free to all peoples.

And the national anthem would be "bela legusi's dead"...no better yet "every day is halloween"

Because every day would be halloween, and all the houses would be like the ones hansel and grettel encountered (made of sweets) except of course the sweets would be black (mmmm licorice), and so would the path.

However strawberries and all the "sinful" sweet pleasures would grow in abundance, the village idiot would be a spooky kid that only made it into the country because he did some reserch and found out that "no time to cry" was originally done by the sisters of mercy (and not cradle of filth).

The politics would be discussing wether it is right to give a government rebate on absinthe and cheap red wine, and the television would only show "teletubbies" during a horror marathon.

The streets would be dirty cobble stone, and there would be gas lights. There would have to be a hole in the ozone layer above so the frase "I can't go out in the sun otherwise I'll burn and shrivel into a little ball" could be so tragically true.

Instead of advertising for clubs in the traditional way there would be a series of cryptic clues, and you would be able to get away quoting "count duckula" and "the trapdoor" on all your assignments and exams.

And the radio would actually have music on it

Maybe the official language could be Latin - I don't know, it just seems fitting.

All the houses could be midevil/victorian revival, The school's dress codes could be a mandatory straight black. All rap besides the song cant touch this would be banned. Absinthe would be plentiful, And the national bird could be the crow:p . No pun intended. On halloween we could all dress up like popstars and rappers. Instead of brittney spears little girls would want to be just like patricia morrisey.

A Station for every type of gothic music.

I think it would be kind of stupid to have a Goth country . I mean it would kind of be good but not really . How would there be any opposition ? I like opposition and debates against mainstream society and 'norms' .
And yes 'Bela Lugosi is Dead' should be the anthem and I would prefer a Mideivel/Victorian type setting . A whole legion of black clothing would be a wonderful site !!

goths are able to argue amongst themselves pretty damned well, it seems to me =P

I think the flag should be a field of black with arcane symbols from different traditions. Except the symbols will also be black, so no one can see them. Then we can start a legend that true goths can see the symbols.
