Oh yes, coffee mugs would be great! And perhaps at around 10-15 dollars each? If that's possible.

A few stickers or magnets would be tempting as well. I would most likely have to grab a couple of those for myself. Pricing for those things . . . Hmm, maybe between 3 and 5 dollars each? I suck at pricing shit. I'm just basing these on similiar products that I have seen while trying to give a slightly higher 'suggested retail price.'

T-shirt? Well, I don't think I would purchase a T-shirt, not right away anyway. I have enough T-shirts laying around so I don't really have a need to get a new one at the moment. Is a good idea though!

Ashtrays -- same thing as the T-shirt for me. I'm not in any dire need to purchase yet another ashtray, although it is a brilliant idea and I think many people would take advantage of that! Definitley take the ashtrays into further consideration. Perhaps a price range somewhere between 10 -20 dollars each (ashtrays last a LONG time, definitely worth the money to me).

Hmm . . . other options? Maybe selling a few little prints of the artwork with the logo? A nice, little framed piece that could hang above a doorway? That'd be nice. I can't even begin to give a price range for that, with the frame. Without a frame -- maybe around 30 dollars each?

Um, that's it for now. If I think of any other ideas, I will gladly share them with you.

This one might not be so easy to arrange, and you may be better off asking the artist themselves for this kind of thing.

For a start, only an artist can value their own work (unless they have actually sold the original, then the owner of the work can value it). Add to this, while GOTH.NET has obtained rights from all the artists displayed on GOTH.NET to publish their work on the site, thats a VERY different thing to creating a print of the work, and selling it.

If you like an artist's work, email them about getting a print made up, thats usually accepted practice, and often, they will charge less than $30 anyway (though sometimes more). Dont get me wrong, this doesnt mean GOTH.NET will NOT sell prints of artists works on GOTH.NET, just theres a lot more to getting permission, arranging royalties, and setting prices and then actually manufacturing a decent print and getting a decent frame than one would first think, so this may wait a while. It might even be easier to get the artist to do it all, and just sell us copies of the print that we can re-sell, this is something we can determine later.

One thing I should note, that another thing I'm considering is also selling non-GOTH.NET specific stuff. There are some sites out there who have their own stuff, and would like to use GOTH.NET as another channel to sell the stuff. It works for them, because GOTH.NET is a popular site, and they can sell larger volumes of their merchandise, and it works for GOTH.NET because we will still be able to make a profit off this gear (though granted, not as much as our own stuff, but hey, money is money). It may work out that GOTH.NET will be able to do the same on other sites as well, but there are no immediate plans for this.

Remembering here, of course, that any profits made will go directly to GOTH.NET in some manner, either relieving the maintanence load off me (remember, I pay for the hosting each month), or upgrades to the box itself. The administration will still be free *grin*. Just mentioning this to remind people that profits from their purchase will not just go into my pocket, but to GOTH.NET itself.

How about tank tops? I prefer them to T-shirts, personally, but I don't know if those would be more complicated to have made (in that T-shirts are probably more commonly ordered?) Anyway, I'd be willing to pay up to $25 for a tank top. :)

PreZ>Will that mean pop-ups? *shudders*

Or do you mean like, other companies could sell their clothing line on a catalogue in the site?

Absolutely no fucking way.

I despise pop-ups. They're the most horrible and heinous things on the internet and I refuse to have them on the site.

The only things that pop-up on GOTH.NET are the individual art and writings submissions, and they only pop-up when the link is clicked. Those are the only pop-ups we'll ever have here, those that are clicked, not forced.

Even if we ever resort to paid advertisements, they'd be banners, not pop-ups. But as advertising is usually not the best method of creating revenue, we're looking into other things first... donations, paid extra web/email space and now merchandise.

Yup. That we'll sell items on our site made by others or on behalf of others or in conjunction with others... depending on what kind of arrangements are made.

There are companies, and no, i dont know the names of them, who produce items, such as keychains, pencils, nail files, etc.and personalize them for companies..I have a keychain, very ugly green plastic, which says "You're no 1 ! Benedictine sisters" Also many car dealers give you a keychain with their name embossed.. Chintzy, but I suppose there are good items available somewhere. :)

By plus sizes i meant womens sizes as in 1x,2x,etc. Most T's are made to mens sizes and do not fit women very well. They are cut small through the hips and waist and larger through the shoulders..thus hugging the hips tightly while falling off the shoulders. ???

And I always expect to pay extra for any clothing I buy. Because of the smaller demand for the larger size.. of course. ;)

if you decide to merchandise, would you put it on this website or on a credit card accepting website like Cafe Shops?

We'd put it on this site and accept credit cards through Paypal. I'd much prefer to keep control over that kind of thing rather than let a third party do it and take a cut of the profit, plus this way we can choose our own merchandise from various sources and of various types.

All our profits go back into GOTH.NET anyway, so I'd rather not have to split it with another party.

I like the T-shirts idea and I'd like to add in my hurray for mousepads! I like the type of merchandising stuff they have at the powergothgirls website. Some of those items are really neat.

I'm not sure they even sell Baby-T's in those sizes. The most I've ever seen is S-M-L and very occasionally XL in Baby/Lady T's, other than that it's the straight "mens" tees.

From a quick search on several sites, it's hard enough to find womens/fitted shirts in XL, let alone the sizes over that.

While I'd like to accomodate for that, I'm not too sure how viable it is. I'll keep looking though.
