I was just wondering which Tim Burton movie was a favorite around here...Mine go in this order
4.Beetlejuice
3.Edward Scissorhands
2.Sleepy Hollow
1.Nightmare Before Christmas

I think i have to go with Edward Scissorhands on this one. Although I can't remember ever sitting down and watching the whole movie from beginning to end, I have quite fond memories of it.

Perhaps the former has caused the latter?

Currently my favourite is Nightmare Before Christmas. It's just magical and delightful.

Second currently is kind of a close call between Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow, both are very enjoyable.

You incidentally forgot to list Pee Wee Herman, which Burton also directed. And James and the Giant Peach I believe Burton was (Exec.) Producer on... the director was Henry Selick, who was responsible for NBC... though Burton was very much responsible for the concepts and design behind NBC... not sure about his involvement in James. James is also a lovely movie though.

Some of his shorts like Vincent and Frankenweenie that are included on the NBC dvd are great too.

And I have to say that I don't remember ever watching Edward Scissorhands in its entirety. About 2 weeks ago I got the dvd of it, but I've returned that as there was a 5 inch slash and a puncture in the dvd case, and picky little me wants a fairly mint looking case.

The Nightmare Before Christmas... for sentimental reasons

I choose Edward Scissorhands . . . but for the same reason as Blood_Rose. There are good memories with that movie, for me.

NBC is a VERY close second though!

Yeah, NBC has always been my favorite mostly because of pleasant memories of it when I first saw it. I recently saw Edward Scissorhands for the first time since it was in theaters and I liked it a lot but I can't really form an accurate opinion of it because I watched it on wgn where they skip every other scene for a commercial break but nevertheless it was charming.

I love Edward Scissorhands. I still am not sure why, but I do. It is a wonderful movie, and I think it stands head and shoulders above the majority of movie released in, say, the last 15 years or so. Okay, maybe not the majority, but you have to understand that my faith in the movie industry has fallen a lot since 2000. Anyway, Scissorhands is my favorite movie...I must stop rambling now...ergghhhhh...

Sorry kiddies,but I just have to go with Batman Returns. That was such a beautiful movie,with it's dark,winter background. Plus I like Danny DeVito. And where's Ed Wood on the poll? That was a pretty good movie too!

Honestly, his short film "Vincent" should have been on the list. I would have dropped a vote for that instantly.

I really gave into Sleepy Hollow for the scope of the film - the opening sequence in New York was gritty and grimy and felt very right, while the countryside of Sleepy Hollow was superbly rendered (who wouldn't have wanted to wander eerily through those stark forests?). Also, the filters he used on the lens of the camera brought out some amazing colors - very raw, stripped down colors.

Fortunately, his work constantly evolves, which makes him such an inspiring filmmaker to watch and one we'll be seeing from some time to come.

except for Planet fo the Apes. That wasn't exactly a step forward.

You know, even the power of Tim Roth and Helena Bonham Carter (whose Fight Club performance is stunning) couldn't do away with the horror of Marky Mark.

To this day, I shudder at the thought that Tim Burton allowed the shoot continue with such poor casting.

Yet you people still neglect his stunning docu-drama(or something like that), Ed Wood. I mean,it revived the career of Martin Landau,who played oone hell of a Bela Lugosi, and it had Johnny Depp in a Angora sweater. What more do you people need! Dancing monkeys?! Wait,don't answer that.

uh....lets see i would have to go with NBC then edward then sleepy hollow also didn't he do MONKEY BONE or am i just stabbing at the dark? that movie was also good becasue of the dream world rest was okay

I could never get into Edward Scissorhands myself. I also actually liked Batman.
