I live right across the river from Ottawa and I barely ever see any goths except in Ottawa. However it seems as if there's not much in/around Ottawa for us...except Trivium...but no shows like the punk shows. I was wonderring how many of you people on goth.net live in/around Ottawa and if you know of anything gothic in the area.

Well as far as I know.. There's no from goth.net who's actually from Ottawa. I live near Ottawa, but not in it (just south in a small town).
As far as Ottawa and goth goes.. well.. it doesn't really. We've got Trivium, and that's about it. I think Zaphod's is as close to a goth club as you're going to get in Ottawa, and we all know Zaphod's isn't goth... it's just alternative I guess...
Yeah.. I think Otttawa is a punk oriented city.... more so than goth anyways. I think the biggest "goth" hang out is outside the front doors of the Rideau Centre... heheh.. I always see 15 year olds hanging out by the doors there with their faces painted, I usually laugh.
The underground used to have some Goth-type shows, but I think that closed, didn't it? I've never been to The Dominion (right near Zaphod's) but I'm tempted to go.. I've seen some Gothy-looking people going in there as I was on my way to Zaphod's.
I'll be lucky if I ever see a goth show in Ottawa. It'd be sweet if they opened a goth club. I have yet to discover where the goths go!

You're right about Ottawa and goths...and Rideau Center, lol. But it's clear to see there's business to be made there with gothic stores and clubs.
I to live near Ottawa (Aylmer, on the Quebec side) and I see lots of goths there...more than in Ottawa infact. I think that Aylmer would definetly be a very good choice to open some sort of business for goths (like a club) because we definetly need something gothic around here!

Punk Ottawa
There's a site that list's a lot of local shows around Ottawa and the area, and yeah, it's mostly punk, but some of it's not.
NEW - 05/21 - Misery Index (ex-Dying Fetus), Nihility, Tribunal, Exterminator, Sordid @ Bumpers - 19+/7pm/$8
<-- those are all death metal bands. Not quite Goth, but at least it's not punk.
I've seen Sordid before, they're pretty hardcore, they're kind of like Cannibal Corpse.
I guess there's hope for some Goth if there's some Death Metal... ???

http://www.metalottawa.com doesn't seem to work for me...if it's not darkwave I'm listening to it's most likely some form of metal!

heya, i am in ottawa, and pretty much agree with everything said here, and no, there is no goth clubs, you are all right, they hang at the Dom, and Zaphods...thats about it. I really dont think if someone opened a "goth" club here that it would survive for very long. Ottawa nightlife is a tough business. I am quite suprised the the Epochs guy (Trivium) waited so long to open up in Ottawa, i think he may have a goldmine in that place

I've never been to the Dominion, but it doesn't seem like too bad of a place. It's not a goth club really though - it's just an alternative kind of bar - like Zaphod's. *sigh* I can't wait for the day that an actual goth club opens in Ottawa.
One - where abouts in Ottawa are you from?
BKA - who's getting sick of going back and forth to Montreal for some real goth entertainment. hehhheh...

Bad, bad idea.
They opened a shop, it closed after a month, no business. Opening a club would be suicidal, the population here's way too preppy or gansta-like for such a thing. Besides, who'd attend, you, me, a few of our friends?
The only Goth oriented thing I could see working would be a la goth.meetup.com style.

a goth club in ottawa wouldnt be such a bad idea.... there are a lot of young bands out there who play darkwave-styled music and people would go see shows, for the right price. i have many non-gothic friends who have heard my goth music, appreciated it and asked if anyone was gonna be live close to us soon with taht kind of music. i really wish i could say yes to that and then head on out to a club in ottawa, not on the quebec side where i live, and enjoy some kick-ass goth music for a night.

I knwo this pots is a bit old, but I live in Ottawa. I am only 15 though, So I can't go to any clubs. I saw Lacuna Coil play here. That was the most gothic show that I have even seen advertised in a really long time.

Check out Music Exchange, I got a Christian Death cd there and when I last went (last week) they had a cd called Neo-Goth with bands like Cruxshadows and Clan Of Xymox on it. It looked pretty cool and it has 2 cds...check it out!
