I haven't been to Dominion yet thats because i dont have any Gothic friends to go with. But I've been on the website and I've heard great things about it. Did any of you notice on the merchandise part of the site they sell Dominion thongs! I thought that was hilarious

They would probably have a bigger place if there was more people to go to it, but Dublin doesn't have a lot of Goths.

Yeah theres not much of a goth population and what little there is also gets split up, some choosing the rock/metal clubs rather than Dominion.

Sad but true, but what can we do? I did not mean to rhyme it just came out that way.

It was for a while in a HUGE place but it was never really that full, which gave the impression that nobody was there. 40-50 people could be in there and it'd seem empty all night. Then it moved to a smaller place that's still bigger than the current and again it was still pretty empty seeming at times. Moved back here a year or so ago and it's been relatively full most nights. If you're here long enough you'll start to notice that everyone in the scene knows pretty much everyone else in the entire country AND in NI too....

No, I don't think that I noticed Julia. Did she noticed me? Third time 'notice': One night was enough to notice that everybody know everybody - like a big family But I can understand why people chose the metal clubs instead of the Dominion - is it normal that the music becomes more and more the same when time passes on? Where I went in my hometown there was usually a mix of Metal, Rock and Gothic with no Industrial so the question is quite serious.

Re: Ireland - Any Irish goths floating about in here?
I think EBM and other electronic genres became the dominant in Goth clubs all over some time ago, it might have been different in Germany because it's second only to the USA as a market for "harder" varieties of rock, or so I'm told. I haven't been to Dominion in quite some time, but when I was going playing anything else just seemed to clear the dancefloor, disappointing, but a club needs to cater to it's patrons if it wants to survive, especially one as small as Dominion

Re: Ireland - Any Irish goths floating about in here?
I dunno, I haven't been in in ages and haven't talked to her since we broke up. Most (but not all....) of my "Germans are crazy" thing comes from her though.
The music varies from DJ to DJ but because there's so many guests in they tend to stick to the "Old Reliable" songs. Generally there seemed to have been a slight shift towards mroe EBM over the last while I was there but now it's going back to tradgoth and deathrock looking at the playlists. I dunno if that's just me paying more attention at the time or an actual trend though.

Re: Ireland - Any Irish goths floating about in here?
I think that people who walk in pyjamas on the streets shouldn't say that the Germans are crazy. At least we have good music and some headbanger [I really missed them!] in our clubs But okay, maybe I should give the Dominion another chance. Oh and just to have it mentioned: Ireland is the country where the people are kicked on the street at three o'clock, not Germany. Ja. So ist das nämlich.

Well I don't wear pyjamas in the street (or at all). It really depends what you're looking for in a club but Dominion can deliver if you're looking for this. Seriously thoug, if you want me to list the crazy in Germany I will, and it's impressively detailed and systematic.
