I don't know if this is a crazy idea or not, but I thought it would possible to advance the current post-related system of the levels of hell. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I thought we could actually introduce a specific awards system, such as Progenitor of Most Popular Thread, Best Post in Thread, Months Greatest Attendance...and also Most Inane Post, the GAF Award for Outstanding Elitism in the Field of Uberdom (in memorial to Princeps) and the Babybat Medal of Newbie?
Obviously, this is not to be taken seriously, these awards, just a light-hearted recognition of some of the (somewhat geeky *blush*) attention the loyal members of goth.net contribute, and perhaps encourage posting during dry seasons?
Love to hear from anyone on this one!

hehehe... I like this idea
But Princeps didn't exactly deserve the award for GAF Outstanding Elitism. More likely the award for being a Profundus Maximus.
That aside, there should be superlatives for Graduated Babybat, Biggest Bullshitter, The Wannabe Moderator, and also an award for Greatest Number of Useless Posts.

Ooo yes! I like that idea! Very amusing to view the results of such an interesting 'awards' idea.
I'm just afraid of people taking it a little too seriously and turning it into some sort of sick little race or something. Not everyone is light-hearted about such things and I could see a terrible competition rearing its ugly head. Either that, or a few hearts could be broken.
Still, I LIKE it!

Yeah, that's all we need... an official race for the most useless posts...
I don't mind someone organising this and giving out maybe monthly faux awards or something, but I don't want it to turn into something that takes over the board, or gets people actively trying to get awards by being very silly or posting lots of useless shit, which is a danger I see rearing it's head.

Thanks to everyone for your support, I had no idea this would be popular! Yes, in regard to the worry expressed by Daneen and Lilith, I too thought some people might mistake the Awards for actually intended reasons, but I'm sure giving all our recognitions stupid names, and generally making a lot of its comedy value (maybe staging the announcements in the Humour Section?) and the Mods making it evident it is not serious, would help.
Again, thanks for all your support, I hope Lilith can do something with this, and I hope everyone enjoys it!

I really like some of those suggestions. I don't have any ideas on how to contain it so it doesn't end up to be a rat race but maybe we can come up with something.

Nuh-uh... you thought of it, you can organise it
I have enough stuff to do as is with the site and other non GN related stuff.
I'd be willing to make little images/graphics for things which are hosted on GN webspace and you could get people to use them in their .sig files if they're an "award winner". At the end of whatever period I can remove image access from people's .sig files as I can access .sig files through the admin control panel. I'm also more than willing to help in the selection process, but you don't walk in with an idea and just dump the load on me buddy
It's your kid, you raise it.

That shows she is not a real pimp doesn't it. Though I am surprised Rose is very restrained at the moment. I haven't seen carnage in weeks. I'm starting to get the shakes so obviously fresh blood is needed.

aaaa, *sigh* I just haven't been inspired.
I mean, Mia hasn't said anything stupid for a couple weeks, No n00bs have been popping up touting slipknot, it's like the thrill is gone. I'm in a "re-building" period, lets put it that way. Let me just finish up summer vacation and get back to school, and I'll be back in full force with plenty of vile fucking hatred to go around.
I just need one good troll, man. One good troll and I'll be back to my good old self again.
I'm going to wait for the wannabe goth halloween bumrush. October sould kick up some very interesting trolls, baby bats, and Mansonites. It's like goth flamer hunting season in October.

It starts with one troll and then you need another, and another till you are lying in the gutter begging for your next troll. You will end up living in a cardboard box and toting a pram full of cans. You must stop your troll addiction now.

Yeah! I'm kicking my Loveboat addicition, and no longer suffer wild convulsions whenever I see wobbly cruise-ships or funny uniforms. So you can do it Rose!
