Pfft! Now all I need is rhythm. I generally look like this when I ever I ignore my very wise instincts and try to dance. The same sort of situation happens if I attempt to clap.

It's bad. Very, very bad.

Practice! And start with songs that aren't too fast, an easy beat.

Post Re: How to dance?
When my uncle bought me The Gothic Box: A Life Less Lived a few years ago, in the booklet inside was a small section on how to run a gothic club and then on how to dance "gothic". In all honesty I don't think it was meant to be taken uber seriously, but I gave it a try anyway. The moves are best used when in conjunction with other dance moves, otherwise you'll look like a tool XD I'll type them at some point, they were amusing to read!

I tend to combine some of those very simple moves with belly-dance moves. My teacher says this is likely not completely intentional- once you start to belly-dance you tend to forget to dance in other ways apparently :P Personally I would prefer to belly-dance anyway- I used to wstch other people dance and all the most of them were doing was stomping rather randomly while music played, it wasn't even in time to a beat. Belly-dance is good for freestyling it up because teacers encourage you to follow the beat and music. I used to dance at school and I personally thought all the best "dancers" were crap...they weren't doing anything to music, music just happened to be playing in the background. Feel the music, feel how its supposed to sound, and let your body interpret what you hear :)

I wouldn't mind learning how to dance, though the only thing stopping me is California's penal code 415, and the Geneva Convention. Yes, my dancing is that bad lol.

I can firmly say that I recognize one of the peeps from the local scene here, and one of them performed tai chi. That last bit's a bit funny.

IMO, I dance terrible and so do most people! Might as well crack back a guiness, throw worries to the wind, and start stomping like there's a roach infestation. :P

EDIT: It's all about fun anyway. Never been about technical excellence! :)

Mmm, Guinness *drools*. With enough of those I can do anything, of course that would be the Guinness talking for me lol.

Yup, love me some Guiness. Even dance with my bottle in hand (granted that they serve it bottled) at clubs. I'm pretty sure that violates some dance floor code or something, but I find it fun to dance and swig alcohol simultaneously.

Almost makes me think of this, which, I think, has been neglected from the "How to Dance Goth" vids so far.

Hehe! It's a pity that song was never released, or I'd have it. (It was written for the show, and is meant to sound like a Cure/Skinny Puppy mashup.)

I may have memed the Goth Dance here or maybe not... hard to tell as I have my tentacles through a few boards.

All I really now how to do is slow dance. I really do not care for any other type of dancing.

I've never been to a club and danced, but I did take lots of dance classes. I love Irish step, Waltzes, Flamenco, Swing, Folk, and I plan on taking more belly dancing classes soon.

On my way home from work there was a Irish pub and there was always this older gentleman outside. He liked to ask me to join him for a drink. One night I gave in. He was a great dance partner!! We ended up participating in a swing contest later that year and took home third place. It was so neat! His wife didn't mind, either! He was so full of energy for a man in his 80's.

I'm tempted to take the "exotic" dance/exercise classes. They look like fun! My boyfriend would probably have a heart attack, though. Things like that are too... erotic for him? He's kind of sheltered.

How to dance? Flail around more or less in time with the music and without hitting anyone.

More seriously, it might help to learn a few different dance steps and moves from different sources and incorporate them whenever you feel like it. Also, it's good to remember that unless the dance floor's empty or you're inadvertently hitting people no one probably cares if you dance badly. Your own fun/expression should trump looking stupid, and besides bad dancing is a cherished tradition.

Ok y'all. No rezzing zombie threads. Let this one go. It's been over 6 months. It's just that time.

~spidey, who's locking this zombie thread whilst dancing a gun-toting jig
