Creature 6--

In my opinion, rag dolls and cats are a lot less twisted than bratz dolls. i played with stuffed animals and a raggedy anne all the time when i was little... i tried to give her marker tattoos and she had a sleevelss silver satin dress made from a sleeve of one my dad's dress shirts. my younger sister's imaginary friend could turn into a rat, a cat, or a spider. cats and ragdolls are perfectly safe for kids...what does she think people played with before they invented plastic?

Well it is idiot to think that just by dressing a child a little too dark will make him/her commit suicide...
But the truth is, that it is not good for the child to wear dark stuff since little...I mean, the baby can only start visualising colours about 6months old, so it is a little bad if you start dressing your child in dark colours since all little, let your baby grow up and decide by himself what he wants to wear

I just have to share that a local goth couple had a baby recently...their baby carriage is all decked out, shaped like a coffin, lined with red satin, spikes and studs on it. I want one even though I dont have a kid to put in it.

Even though im not a parent.Which im ever so thankfull that im not yet dont plan on it for a long long time.

I think i would try and raise him or her to my ideals my lifechoice of becoming a goth and grooming them that way. I believe when they get a certain age its truly out of your power as a parent to decide what way your kid or kids would be. i would leave them there own choice and go there own way to an extent i would be happy and proud secretly dissapointed maybe. But since im not a father when the time comes my opinion might change.

But deep down thats how i feel

My parents were Goth/Rockers. They did all the usual stuff with us but soem of the highlights were:

- regular horror films and ghosr stories as treats since early infanthood- all the hammers etc.
- Read eastern european fairy tales (the really messed up type)
- Regularly taken to visit caves. castles, stately homes, art galleries & museums
-Sewn any manner of costumes and never forced to dress 'normally'- If I wanted to go shopping dressed as 'Olive Oil' then it was okay.
- Taken down crypts as treats and around grave yards
-Had great halloween celbrations- fanastic witches costumes!
- Brought up atheiest, with irreverance for the church
- Our general family sense of humour was morbid and gross
- Brought up with rock and blues music (some Goth)
- allowed to do the ouija board in the house and cast spells. i even had a pagan altar set up in my bedroom which my dad helped me put together.
You could say that we had a very femily child-centric upbringing. As teenagers we were given every freeddom- no curfews-ever, dress any way we like, sleep with whom we like (even let them stay over in our rooms) and openly take drugs in front of our parents. We grew up being trusted and we all turned out fine- sucessful , stable and happy.

Of the 3 kids one is a Hippie Nurse who loves gross stuff (she phoned me a work to tell me about a gross chest wound where she was poking bone the other day), one (me) is Gothic and fetish orientated (Dad jokes about getting Mum in one of my corsets) and has 2 dregrees and worked as Primary School teachert, and my brother is a Death metaler with a biolgy degree.

I can definatly atest that this kind of background definatly does NOT screw you up. The only thingthat we would have changed (we all agree on this) is that we could have done with a bit more faith in us as kids, a bit more discipline and nurturing our self esteem (being different means you may be picked on and this can bring you down) and a bit more making us stick with things and not give up.

Don't worry about bring your kids up in a gothic home- and don't listen to people who tell you otherwise.
