Post new Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio
I'm not really sure what to expect yet, but it really looks like a progressive continuation of their previous album, ONANI.

Here is the FIRST EVER ORE promo video (that I know about): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPOLW9T80RI

Gone are a lot of the folk influences from before to be replaced by a new romantic gothic rock sound.....
It's one of the purchases I'm looking forward to the end of this year, along with the new Sopor Aeternus EP

Bookmarked.

I think the high end keyboard/zithery line in the introduction, and which gets carried through in the mix and progressed by the delayed piano, does have a slightly folk-ish feel, although the string chords really do give it a strong gothic feel... I was a little disappointed by the ending; I feel it could have had an extended instrumental to fade - ending on a vocal line which is somewhat repetitive and doesn't develop far makes it feel slightly "unfinished".

But, I find it really atmospheric and interesting; it captures a sound I'd love to have myself...

I've been trying to avoid commenting on it in case anybody might, for a second, have thought that I was more interested in the visuals than the music - which, after all, is the main matter in hand...

There is something missing? Something in the voice... passion? It seems flat to me. The music does grab though.

I suppose I should post some of their older clips so that those new to this band will have something to compare it to.

ORE was founded when Tomas Petterson's original band, the Swedish dark ambient/occult unit Archon Satani http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok6r9MriwjY split up.
The other band member went on to form Inanna, and continued in the same vein, while Tomas formed Ordo Equilibrio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhZLh4rdWFk, and pursued a direction more geared towards his spoken word vocals over gothic soundscapes, with bondage/S&M/fetish themes being abundant in his imagery, and his poetry conveying themes of individualism, passion, misanthropy, religious/political rebellion, and most characteristically, the importance of sexual freedom.

When he released his double-album Make Love and War he added "Rosarius" to the band name to symbolize a change in direction and the sound expanding to include many more folk, martial, experimental, and gothic influences.

His second most recent album, O N A N I, was controversial in that it was centered around the theme of self love(masturbation), and he requested his fans send him pictures, videos, etc. of them satisfying themselves, in order to compile the booklet for the CD.

Anyhow, here's some of their previous works, so you can get an idea of the ORE sound:

Thanks, centurion. The tracks you've selected really show the way ORE has developed;
it's easy to see that "Imbecile" is a progression on "Can You Hear The Devils Laughing" and "The Love and Defiance of Being Alive". However, clearly, here, there is greater musical layering; whoever produced this added a great deal more reverb and delay to the overall sound, to create that sparkling, enormous ambience; also there's a far greater emphasis on electric rhythm, whereas I noticed - particularly in the early days - they had a fondness for acoustic guitar. I note, though, that an ongoing love is for big, dark percussion; again, they've mixed it down a bit on "Imbecile", and taken some of the attack out of the percussion, so that it rumbles rather than thumps...

I'm pretty darned impressed.
