My first post... hmmm... ok... new new NEW type stuff =

Jesu (tragic slow-motion industrial shoegaze from the guy behind Godflesh. Beautiful dense intense shoegaze doom)

http://www.myspace.com/officialjesu

Mr. Jack Cooper (deranged baritone crooner stalks the stage in the company of a lamp-shade, semi-humorous songs about mobile phones, incest and mental instability over groovy lo-fi electro grooves) - he plays in The Guillotines but his 'solo' stuff is way better:

http://www.myspace.com/mrjackcooper

The Flesh Machine ("those nice young men from Clockwork Orange meets Noel Coward on Ketamine" - music-hall camp tales of subversive sex over early Sisters style grooves):

http://www.myspace.com/spleenandthefleshmachine

The Mekano Set (oldschool goth grooves - Cure / Joy Division / Sisters bass sound, swirly goth guitars, drum machines, boy / girl vocals).

http://www.myspace.com/mekanoset

A few more but now I've run out of steam...

Can you tell I'm a frustrated journalist?

Adoniel, if you like it dark try Sopor Aeternus or Tear Garden. Though there are same real twisted songs in industrial too, if you're a bit into electronic music try: X-Fusion, Tactical Sekt, Pysclon Nine or Unter Null. Good luck (=

Haus Arafna are brilliant!!

I've recently become addicted to Halo Manash, Donis, and Zoat Aon as well.

Perfect butoh music!!

Tremendous stuff - I plugged Halo Manash into Last.fm and hit "Play Halo Manash Radio". Out came something called New Risen Throne "Blowing Funeral Chant" - very eerie. Oh, now a group Herbst9 is playing - some kind of echo-ey chanting. There are a bunch of tags supposed to describe these:
"dark ambient, ambient, ritual ambient, dark soundscape, cyclic law"
What the heck is the last one?! I don't know where they come up with some of those tags.

Fans of old industrial/noise/experimental acts in the likes of Haus Arafna will be pleased with Subliminal (galakthorroe, Germany).

“In this way I try to attach my own voice so closely to tape-inserts and voice-samples that my voice and the alien voices melt into one.
During this process I can see, and experience how I transmute…
how I become someone else…
expand out of myself, at least that is the feeling I get.
But all through this I am in control. I am the creator. Something new evolves - I also evolve, that is my motivation for sublimination.”

Here are some of my favorites (that haven't been mentioned earlier)
The Merry Thoughts (Sisters of Mercy-ish)
The March Violets
Frank the Baptist
Executive Slacks
Big Electric Cat
Thoushaltnot (great electronic mix)
Emilie Autumn (great violin - ranges from deceptively sedate to scalding!)

Two bands:

The first is Unto Ashes. Pretty much everyone has heard of them. They have a not only gothic attributes to their music, but also operatic and medieval. It's wonderful.

The second band I found out about just fifteen minutes ago. It's called Rajna. I've listen to the samplets and I'm already liking this group. It's like Unto Ashes, but in place of the medieval tones, it's oriental. And it's awesome.

Unto Ashes is in my top 100 ;)

Yeah, I'd say they mix in quite a bit of neofolk as well. They've got influences and musical ties ranging all over the place.

Rajna are rather beautiful as well. I've always been interested in ethereal/darkwave/neofolk/ambient groups using oriental musical elements, but I guess my love of this beautiful continent makes me biased.
I'm having trouble tracking down Rajna's first album. Of course it's out of print, and it seems to even elude p2p programs. Hope they reissue it one day :(

Unto Ashes for the win!

Although their ranking may or may not change as I discover more neoclassical darkwave artists. And the chances of that is likely seeing that I've been listening to:

1) Ophelia's Dream
2) Artesia
3) Dargaard

All really nice neo-classical groups with a dark, drooning touch (hence, the sub-sub-genre "Neoclassical Darwave"). I'll definately be getting more of their music.

Anyway, unless their first album was a different title (I think it's called "Ishati"), you can get their first album from Amazon used or new I assume(there are two versions, the first being released by Prikosnovenie, the second by Projekt, so I dunno if they're any different aside from different record labels). That, or you can buy the album from iTunes, and then burn it onto a disc (ALWAYS burn iTunes downloaded music. Don't be in the same predicament I'm in. D:).

But where's the thrill and satisfaction of a downloaded and burned CD? ^_^; So, I'd go with the album, new or used.

(That's the thing about Projekt CDs. Sam Rosenthal endorses downloaded albums as opposed to hard copies, even if you download it illegally. So it's no surprise that Projekt CDs are usually five bucks more on Amazon.)

I'll throw in one for The Cure's Disintegration, Siouxsie's Nocturne, and Peter Murphy's Should the World Fail to Fall Apart.

NO1SE D3CAY (industrial, gothic, new wave)

Wroclaw (south Poland) - year 2006. After a few months spent in quiet kingdom of sounds, that official was called NO1SE D3CAY, two people, Lindey and Peter brought to life their own (de)- formation in which industrial sounds are connected with gothic-psychodelic harmony. After almost a year demo has been made that included four songs:

1.Deformation
2.Close to The End
3.Illness
4.Pale And Dust

Project slowly crawls on the surface announces recording of studio album followed by live performances.

"I'm not hiding that we need lots of support from people that already knows piece of our art, as well as from new listeners. Enough troubles has been passed already. In this moment we are realising gig material, that we believe, will be huge dose of different sounds connected with musical performance".

Lindey
