I tried searching the threads and did not find one discussing some of the current shoegaze bands. I've been a fan of this genre for years and have noticed that some of the newer bands are downright fantastic. Tearwave is a current favorite. Dare I say that they have given me hope for music of today. Anyone else really enjoying the current bands? And if so, which ones do you like?

I haven't looked into the *genre* much, but I like what I've heard off of tearwave's myspace page so far. Very chill, relaxing, with vocals light enough to be played as ambiance even when reading.
Thanks for the heads-up

I thought shoegaze was dead :O. This Tearwave band is actually pretty good, but they're a bit too light and acoustic for my taste.

I've never heard of shoegaze, 'til now. But this Terwave guis kind of remind me of some local performers, like Irina Florin - "I can" and Atlas - "Doll".
Could that be classified as shoegaze ?

Some of my current favorites in the Shoegaze genre are Autumn's Grey Solace and Mira, as well as Tearwave mentioned above.
They can be found at Projekt.

I noticed them in the comments section of the "Miki Berenyi Fans" myspace page and I guess that should have been a dead giveaway. But I wouldn't have figured them for shoegazer in the way I remember it sounding with Lush's "Spooky" or My Bloody Valentine. It sounds a lot like This Ascension, but then again they also sound like the Pale Sants in places so I guess the catagory still fits.
It's been hard to keep up with the old satellite catagories of alternative music. I used to be able to find everything on "120 minutes" and KROQ. Now there is no "120 minutes" and KROQ is mostly nu-metal, grunge, and shit I don't recognize.

I've heard these band's being referred to as "newgazer", which I think is a lame term.
Anyway if your looking for more try Fleeting Joys, not original in the least (the album I have sounds like MBV's "loveless" re-visited) but still very good.

They are already confirmed for many of next years festivals, so the reunion is certainly happening, I haven't heard anything about the new album since the initial rumor though.

According to this article, they're going to play Coachella in 08, and an "official" MySpace page barely a month old certainly seems to suggest it isn't a totally unfounded rumor.
Is it too early to hope they'll follow Bauhaus's lead and start touring again after the Coachella gig?

All Natural Lemon & Lime Flavors - Turning Into Small is a good Shoegaze album, but it's 4 years old now.
I love My Bloody Valentine, but I'd rather classify them as Dreampop.

Hey if you guys are interested in a band that mixes Shoegaze and Post-Punk, check out Cockatoo. They are really good!
