 New David Bowie single
ClickyQuote: David Bowie celebrates his 66th birthday on 8 January by releasing a new single, Where Are We Now?, his first new music for 10 years. The track, which precedes the release in March of an album, The Next Day, was produced by Tony Visconti and recorded in New York. It harks back to Bowie's time in 1970s Berlin. The video was directed by artist Tony Oursler I have to say I really like it

 Re: New David Bowie single
Really, really excited I also like the single (though it did take a couple of listens). It brought to mind Thursdays Child...sort of... If you haven't seen it this is the actual final artwork of the album (a lot of people are finding that hard to believe, but it's true). Here is the artist behind it discussing the choice in album cover and revealing a few clues as to how the new album will sound.

 Re: New David Bowie single
I've been hoping for a big Bowie tour and album the last couple years. I furtively put it under my thoughts and predictions for the new year. It would seem Mr. Bowie has been spying! lol. So freaking excited for a new album and hopefully the chance to FINALLY see this man!

 Re: New David Bowie single
I think if he tours, it will be a small tour, not like previous ones, he had a heart condition at the end of the Reality tour, and there are rumours of Alzheimer's too, which all probably means that if he tours, I'll have to travel to see him, which I have no problem doing

 Re: New David Bowie single
I don't think he got the voice any more. He hardly can to strike the right note and keep it. The composition is too old fashioned. I'm disappointed I must say.

That double-headed puppet thing sort of disturbed me.

 Re: New David Bowie single
Can't say I blame him, but if he doesn't get out there sooner rather than later, he might not make it out on the road again. But a live video event would be just as nice, if that would ever happen. Black Milk wrote: Bad news on the touring/festival appearances front

 Re: New David Bowie single
I want Bowie to live forever, if a tour would jeopardise my unrealistic desire, I'm happy to sacrifice it Here is an interview with Tony Visconti on recording "The Next Day", apparently "Where are we now?" Is not representative of the album.

 Re: New David Bowie single
The full album is streaming on itunes now, you can listen here. I'm fighting the urge to listen, I already have the special edition CD (which has bonus tracks) and the album on Vinyl pre-ordered, I'm going to hold out until they get here...somehow...maybe....ngah! Must. Not. Click. Own. Link. *explodes*

 Re: New David Bowie single
My CD version of the album arrived yesterday (Vinyl is delayed until the end of the month), and I've had it on repeat since Very happy with it, enjoying it a lot more than I even expected, I think it's a really solid album, where others of his more recent releases I've found to be a 50/50 split between great songs and forgettable ones

 Re: New David Bowie single
The new one is far better than that last strange one. IMO And yes I am a Bowie fan, well up to Lets Dance anyway.

 Re: New David Bowie single
Its nifty to see that he's still making music. I've always wanted to get into his stuff. I'll have to check it out.

 Re: New David Bowie single
I still think he's got "it". He's one of those people who just don't age to me, like the Lemmies, Alice Coopers, Glenn Danzigs, and Iggy Pops of this world. I mean, I don't expect him to go out in Ziggy Stardust attire or anything, but if Cooper's still touring, I think Bowie has one or two left in him
