 Re: Bands you hate.
Green Day were my most hated band in Junior High School, along with Nirvana..... Just something about how every single song sound very annoyingly happy, and how the singer sounds mentally handicapped...... I HATE "smiley" music!!!! Also Nirvana, overrated, boring. Strumming three chords to smoker vocals and singing about drugs whilst dressing in clothes you look like you've camped in for weeks was supposed to have revolutionized music?? No wonder the 90s were dull as hell......

No kidding. I felt like I was "supposed" to like grunge because it was supposed to be honest and gritty and the critics liked it. I was living in a dreary place at the time and the music just added to it.

 Re: Bands you hate.
Actually, given the dark, dark music centurion presents for our attention, even The Smiths would sound upbeat and cheerful by comparison!
But, in this instance - having mentally asked myself the same question - I think he's only talking about Green Day.
With regards Nirvana, I actually love "Smells :ike Teen Spirit"; however, if you want to use them as a figurehead for the grunge thing as a whole (Hole?), then I'd have to agree - ugly, pointless, stupid music. Trouble is, it was, in radio terms, a good antidote to the really happy, pointless shit we were being forced to either listen to or ignore.

 Re: Bands you hate.
I was talking about Green Day and the whole vibe I get where I imagine every single song being sung with this silly grin on the singer's face that makes me want to punch him out!!! Nah, Nirvana was more like this band I felt like was being shoved down my throat throughout my whole teenagehood, but never really got why they were so great. I actually liked a lot of the early Alice in Chains and Soundgarden material, I felt a lot of early Black Sabbath vibe in them. Nirvana, however, I felt was nothing more than simple rock with a simple image, and simple lyrics about simple things like teenage angst and other mundane simple stuff.... however, take into mind at this age, i was more into lyrics about Dungeons & Dragons Anyhow, much like Coourtney Love, Curt Cobain's "smoker vocals" didn't help matters any. Moreso, it gave me the feeling that these songs were being made by my pothead classmates, rather than some extroardinary songwriter/artist Nah, Nirvana actually had two songs I liked, being "Something in the Way" and "Heart Shaped Box". Other than that, totally overrated.......

 Re: Bands you hate.
Everyone has mentioned a good list of bands... But I have not seen Danko Jones on here. Seriously, he sounds like he's grunting like a caveman when he sings. Hearing anything by Danko Jones makes me instantly nauseated.

 Re: Bands you hate.
Wow, there sure were a shitload of crappy bands like Nickelback during the last decade, that seemed to think singing with your mouth full sounded cool.....
Damn you, Pearl Jam.....
