Also the "screamo" bands like Bring Me The Horizon... I once listened to one of the songs about six times, just to see if I could pick up the words and have it make sense. After all that time (and even attempting to lip read the Youtube video to see if that helped), I still only managed a handful of words and one of them happened to be the title of the song

All in all they are fucking awful and they make me want to rip my eardrums out

Screamo is misunderstood. Truly good screamers include clear lyrics after the screaming, symbolic to the calm after the storm, rational thought after rage.

Ska existed long prior to "Ska punk", and had nothing to do with punk, musically, prior to 1982 --and that's me being charitable. There's nothing "punk" about Desmond Dekker, Symarip, and scores of others I can name, especially considering that their careers existed long before "punk" music. And to Ska purists, "ska punk" tends to be an abomination --No Doubt is to Ska music what Def Leppard is to heavy metal in that the ignorant masses may assume said bands are representative of said genre, but to an enthusiast of the genre, at best these bands are regarded as a "fusion" of said genre with another, and thus on the periphery of the enthused genre (though typically, one is more likely to encounter an enthusiast with a point-by-point explanation on how said band is "in no way" a part of said genre).

Meshuggah is another example of talent gone to waste, like Dream Theater. That XXX Atomic Toejam industrial project was alright, their first album bearable, but otherwise...... one note, one note, one note, every song sounding the EXACT same as the last.

I posit that anybody making blanket statements about hating "all rap music" simply have yet to encounter anything good (of course, that's assuming the best --I like to assume the best of people, until given reason to assume otherwise). It's like any other music; there's good stuff, but there's an awful lot of soulless, mass-produced, crap churned out with a haste that hopes to make a quick buck, but cares fup all for artistry. I mean, hell, half of Siouxsie's or The Cure's records are downright pop by way of song structure and tempo, but I doubt anybody here would claim they've made a truly repugnant song.

I actually love rap and the hip hop genre, I'll say it right now. There's a lot in the genre that I really don't like, but there's a lot that I love.



I would say something like "all rap sucks" or "all country sucks" back when I was still in high school, but that was back when I thought that heavy metal was the best genre in the world and if you weren't heavy you weren't talented (which I'll admit now, looking back, I'm embarrassed of)
