 Re: Bands you hate.
I've never heard of "Aggrotech" before, but it sounds like something I want to avoid...

 Re: Bands you hate.
If you've been to a club, you probably have......
Also known as dark electro, hellektro, terror EBM, etc.
Examples: Suicide Commando, newer Hocico, Combichrist, Psyclon Nine, Tactical Sekt, Grendel, etc. etc. etc.
Repetitive 4x4 beats, lots of high-pitched beeps, some guy whispering with distortion to make it sound like he's screaming, all songs virtually the same, lots of angsty swearing, etc.

I think there's a huge gap between that garbage, and the GOOD 80s/early 90s electro-industrial like Skinny Puppy, FLA, Haujobb, yelworC, or all those other pioneer bands who actually included a lot of creativity, layers, and atmosphere in their sound.
Aggrotech is what new mainstream "goth" clubs rely on to get people on the dance floor...... a cheap beat, some guy whispering through distortion about pretty much the same things nu-metal/screamo/metalcore bands sing about, the same sequence of beeps passing for a main riff. The younger testosterone-driven brother of trance..... It has always astounded me to no end how so many self-professed "Goth" DJ's don't seem to understand this. And usually, when they don't understand the difference between Old School Industrial and BPM driven electro-dance, they don't know doodly-squat about actual Goth music, either. "Doosh-Doosh-Doosh-Doosh-weee-wahhh-wee-wahhh". Well, the reason I stopped going to the big parties was because there is a little electro-industrial(usually only the famous club hits mixed in with aggrotech), VERY little gothic rock/deathrock/darkwave and NO old school industrial, NO martial/neofolk/medieval stuff, NO black/doom metal, and definitely NO dark ambient/experimental noise, therefore very little to interest me. I have come to realize the painful truth again and again, and that painful truth is that the average person thinks like the average person....... in effect meaning most people neither like the music I like, nor think it suitable for dancing, even at a goth event........ The average joe normal, likes bright, clean-sounding production, typical chorus-verse-chorus structures, generic simplistic dance rhythms, clean chugga-chugga guitar riffs, and lyrics made not to provoke, nor inspire, but merely to provide a catchy chorus to sing along to...... The average person also gets most of their musical/subcultural info from MTV, enjoys revving their engines really loud at traffic lights to increase the size of their penis, thinks spiking their bangs looks cool, and thinks excess profanity is both shocking and classy. ..... and people question my misanthropy. To-san, apparently some men in the US are revving their engines in vain! I do understand your misanthropy, hun. Now, I must run off and listen to some fucking Combichrist, godamnit.

[quote="centurion"]If you've been to a club, you probably have......[quote] I haven't - absolutely no goth/industrial clubs here without having to drive hours to a different city lol. Just listened to Suicide Commando on YouTube. Meh... after clicking on three different songs, they all started out the same way and continued in identitcal format. This one I'm listening to now is annoyingly repetitive, let me stop it. Basically, it was exactly how you said - should have taken your word for it to avoid subjecting myself to it.

Hmmm, now is the time to blame it on being directly in front of the smoke/fog machine! It was all the smoke/fog machine's fault! I swear there was something in it!

..... and people question my misanthropy. I think there are perhaps four or five events worth attending worldwide, pretty much for the same reasons. When it comes to the clubs, I knew many Goths who agree wholeheartedly that the music sucked, but they whine that "it's the only place we have to go..." while they publicly kiss butt to the aggy-tech Dj's. Meanwhile the DJ's, the decent ones, that is, who can actually get past their egos enough to have a discussion with you, say "if we don't play this stuff, no one will come, and there will be no goth night". But the truth is that these nights ceased being Goth nights years ago. At a typical one that I attended (in a moment of bad judgement), most patrons were walk-ins, refugees from the clubs that closed earlier. Of the remainder, there were a large number of Fetishers, since it was the off week for their spank-fest. Then you had the metalheads; and lastly, a small sprinkling of Goths who looked like they were trying not to pay too much attention to the music. For much of the clientele you could record someone farting in a bucket, put it in a loop at the right BPM, and these people would run to the dance floor. (I understand that some recreational drugs do that to you.) Truth is, these are not "goth nights" anymore. They are not "for" Goths at all. They squawk for Goths to "support the night", but refuse to play anything for you, and insult you if you ask them to. Some of the Dj's will privately admit that they "hate Goth music". So, why even call it a "Goth night"? They need to be truthful and call it something else. And when I talk with old Rivetheads, they echo the sentiments. My recent interview with Martin Oldgoth touched on the subject.

My recent interview with Martin Oldgoth touched on the subject. Thats pretty much exactly how I see it. I like you. I often approach DJs at every club I go to and ask them this, and get that very reaction, like they'll go out of business if they don't play it. The term 'goth night' needs to be changed indeed. I'm not calling for some elitism stuff, i hate that shit too. But goddamn. This is no different than calling Nickelback a fucking grindcore band. In fact, a funny little story, he was DJing in some club in Toledo where that IGUN crap (industrial goth underground night, lol) usually roams. I helped him with the playlist, which ended up being alot of 80s industrial, 80s/90s ebm, goth rock, noise related stuff, etc. Not only did we clear the floor a number of times, but some aggrotech zombies came up and started bitching at us to turn that shit off, GTFO, leave the booth, what have you. Needless to say we just blared Foetus' 'Thaw' at them and let them piss and moan. It was fun to troll the sheep but further killed my feelings toward club goers calling the shit goth industrial night.

 Re: Bands you hate.
I am adding Hed PE to my list of hated musicians.
It's not so much the fact that they sound like shitty nu-metal, but moreso of how much of a goddamn hypocritical crybaby Jahred (vocals) is. One minute hes saying 'to each their own' and 'stop the hate', next, hes obsessively ranting about christianity over, and over, and over, on his facebook. Like an angst ridden 13 year old.
Plus he sounds like an immature moron who was fucking born yesterday. "Hay guyz. Guess wut. Religion sux!!!11!1one". Wow, Jahred. Bravo. Shit I figured out on my own, 20 years ago without musical influence. Even then I am not ignorant enough to lump all religious people in the same corrupt ship like he is.
It is lulzy that he hates all christians. Yet his bandmate DJ Product is a born again one. LOL! What a mixed-up, confused bunch of fucking idiots.
