Well, a new country has been born, http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/jul/10/south-sudan-celebrates-independenceI for one am happy for the people of South Sudan, and I hope that the people who have been displaced can come back home.

Yeah, a lucky day after 200 000 - 300 000 dead victims since 2003. There were some more killing in the decades before. Something like a mass murder which was not noticed in the press. Let us hope there will be peace, because there are still two provinces that belong to the north, Blue Nile and South Kordofan, which are controlled by the Sudan People's Liberation Movement. The party or army of the south. They undersigned a contract that they will share the power with the north. The problem is, there are lots of natural ressources, oil, gas, minerals, I don't know and observers apprehend that peace won't keep for long if the UN Troups will go. It's interesting that the Guardian did'nt mention that it is not just an ethnical border, but an religious too, between the muslim north and the chistian, animistic south.
