Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
I for one welcome the Irish to America and I hope they do better here than in Ireland!

Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
Ireland will recover financially in a few years. It was just the stupid banking system, which made the problems. I think America will have the same problem very soon.

Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
Well I always planned on leaving... I'm not very patriotic and thought the place was a dump even before the Government dickery.

It must be nice to have at choice so many countries with the own language. I couldn't live a hundred miles away from the town I was born.

Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
I've got a mate in another forum from Ireland who is currently visiting the states, but I doubt he'll immigrate here.

The banking system isn't changing, and the IMF and ECB are raping us hard still. It's not going to get better within the next 20 years I'd say.

Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
Wait and see.The only way to manage that situation is economical growth. And Ireland still got a lot of potential. Although your Gouvernment is not clever and pays 1% more of interest rates than they would have to if they would increase the taxes for companies on the average european level. At the moment the Euro as well as the Dollar could crash, because of the enormous public deficits. But that is the problem with Europe. Every country feels abused by the others at the moment and everybody hates the rating agencies.

Re: New Wave of Irish Immigration?
The only way the dollar will crash is if the republicans succeed in keeping taxes on the elites half of what they are for the masses.
If you work for a living your income is taxed twice by the feds. A percentage goes into social security and a percentage is taxed for the general budget [this is misleading because the general budget dips into social security whenever congress feels like it]. In other words; people who work for a living loose about 30% of their income to support the feds.
But if your income is from trading [as is the case of the rich] you only pay social security on the first 100 grand you earn per fiscal year. Then instead of paying an income tax on what you earn on the stock market you're subject to the capital gains tax which is so low that combined you'd only be paying 15% of your yearly income to the feds [and that's assuming you don't exploit any loopholes to deduct further]. So sit around all day watching wallstreet, pay less.
It really would not be so hard to keep the national debt in check if a healthy stream of revenue was coming in. The problem is the masses have been brainwashed into thinking that taxes are "evil" and are also brainwashed into thinking that the rich pay the same as everyone else & shouldn't be subject to more [the truth is they pay less, not more- because the game is rigged]. So any effort to raise taxes to help pay down the debt produces outrage from nearly half the country; even if the taxes of the masses do not change and are not being considered for change.

I know sgath92, and it really makes me sad. We have higher taxes here but lots of holes and taxes about 20% of the federal budget are evaded each year. The conservative Government don't take any action to get that money and to punish the defrauder. Most of the upper class would be judged criminals than.
