Whenever I use caps or italics or underlining I merely seek to duplicate on the screen the intonations of my speaking voice, that's all.

The CBC and the BBC have at least one thing in common:

They operate by taking taxpayers money and are resolutely deaf to any point of view but that of their bureaucracy, which, in both cases, is WILDLY leftist.

So the heart of the Commonwealth and one of its Dominions have THAT in common, at least.

Using bold, italics AND underlining an all-caps word is pretty much doing everything you can but sticking asterisks around it to show emphasis. That means you're one step short of having your voice crack you're screaming the word so hard. Not exactly the kind of thing that sways people....

I would call it annoying button-holing or chest-poking, rather than screaming.

'Course, THAT has nearly gotten me punched too, once or twice....

But I am given to melodramatic gestures and overemphasis: it's a hereditary hazard of being of Italian ancestry, I think.
