Post Gollum-like monster emerges from lake
http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.ht ... _page_id=2

A slimy, glob-like creature dubbed Gollum has terrified children after it slithered out of a lake and clambered over the rocks towards them.
In a "desperate bid to defend themselves" four children grabbed rocks from the beach and hurled them at the beast.
Having killed it they picked up the body and tossed it back into the lake, before fleeing.

Hm. I'm honestly wondering how long it will take for it to be declared a hoax. I have to be a skeptic on this.

It probably is a hoax of some sort. I believe in things far crazier than this. But still, I think it's bogus.

It could have been some type of animal like a sloth that was born with a strange birth defect.

hoax or not, the pictures were pretty...well unusual? Not that i think it is real or not, as i honestly have no opinion on that, but i did think the pictures were pretty neat (in a morbid sort of way).

If the body is fake, i give credit to the person who made it. If it is real, i must say i feel bad for whatever that poor creature was.

The hairless-sloth theory sounds feasible to me.

In the upper left corner, is that hair on the body? Was it shaved? I keep thinking of the movie Eraserhead for some reason.

As a side note, I think it's a sad comment on humanity if the story is true. An unrecognizable animal/person/thing appears, and slithers slothfully toward a group of several children. Their response? "We don't know what it is and we don't know what its intention is, so we're not going to inquire, and we're not going to flee as fast as our athletic young legs will take us...instead, we're going to KILL IT!!!"

Intergalactic wars get started thanks to people like this.

I heard of this a little while ago and I heard the general consensus was that the poor beast was a hairless sloth.

My, what brave young defenders of the earth we have.

I quit playing DnD with certain people because of this mentality.

I used to base traps on this premise. Then they would finally get the hint, and then try to pet the pink furry drangon... (NB: Its still a frickin' dragon!).
