Dark_Perfectionist wrote: Live long and prosper! Anyway... Hello fellow goths, and greetings from Croatia I finally decided it's time for me to start actively participating in this forum instead of just reading all the stuff you guys write. I have been a Goth for a goth for almost two years now, but I have just started declaring myself one this year when I started high school in a new town. Though I think of myself a goth I realize I am still a baby bat. Concerning my physical appearance I have "long" curly hair, knee high boots, black cloak and black whatever other current weather requires . As far as music goes, since most people think that's the defining point of a goth, I love The Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus, but I enjoy symphonic metal, classical music, rock and power metal (or any other kind of music, if it has meaningful lyrics or great sound) as well. My hobbies include writing a series of SF novels (page 1367 and counting), listening to music, reading books (usually about vampires, the "real" Anne Rice vampires that don't sparkle ), watching TV shows (House, HIMYM, Fringe, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, TBBT), studying (I want to get a PhD in quantum physics), and walking by the river at night. So yeah thank you for reading that. I hope we'll see/read more of each other and that this forum will help me become a true member of the dark side [ugh, I hate when I accidentally quote Star Wars (I despise Star Wars)] Enjoy the night! Welcome to Goth.net, Dark_Perfectionist! I hope you enjoy your time here.

Re: Introduction Thread - New? Introduce yourself here!
Hai I´m not exactly new but I´m not here often and I haven´t introduced myself yet so here I go: I´m 21, sophomore (Literature and Linguistics), english is not my native language. My hobbies would be water, plants and animals, I suppose. All in one: animals and plants in water. I have 7 aquariums with plants, fish and other aquatic animals. I also have earth plants and animals. My room is home to about 28 animals (not including snails and unborn fish), 9 adult earth plants - well, 10 plants because I like to include myself here, and lots of books (these are pretty much the only material things I care for) but I´m trying to stop with paper books and buy kindle editions instead. I love hiking and reading as well. My family: Denis Linch - rabbit (7 years old) Canary without a name (6 years) Parakeet without a name (4 years) Gregor - house mouse/mice (8 months old) Gavin - African Dwarf Frog ( Hymenochirus boettgeri), age unknown (lives with me for 4 months now) Goldfish: Demian - Black Moor (6 months old) - my soul mate Agni - Comet (6 months old) Geldern - Red Cap Oranda (5 months old) Murtag - Shubunkin, blue (4 months) Elva - Black Moor (4 months old) Fighting fish: Aslan - Crowntail Betta Male, turquoise-black with sapphire and cream like fins (5 months old) Arya - Betta Female, cellophane (3 months) Other: 4 Catfish (Green/Bronze cory cats - Corydoras aeneus), 2 months old 5 White Cloud Mountain Minnows, 2 months old (one of them is pregnant) Marius - Ghost (Glass) Shrimp (4 months) Fiona and Rowan - pure tuxedo blue female guppies, 2 months (both pregnant) Malaysian Trumpet Snails, dark red (about 30 of them) Níniel - Anubias nana plant (aquatic) with lots of kids (4 months) 4 cats (2 male, 2 female) Three older cats - without a name Freya Rae Moning - white cat (female), couple of weeks old Rights to animals.

Re: Introduction Thread - New? Introduce yourself here!
Well, I've dropped into a couple of threads elsewhere already but let's call that fashionably late and get on with the funeral.
I live in Yorkshire where three rivers meet and most people are related. I also have three families, coincidentally.
At time of writing I am 22 going on 4, married and pretty much a full-time carer. In between caring and caring I dress up, go walking or read books. I'm badly educated with a reasonably open mind, spend too much time playing Elder Scrolls & Fallout and have a goldfish called Hagrid.
I don't think I've mentioned anything relevant so feel free to ask challenging questions.

Welcome back, Plectrude! Did you name your fighting fish after Arya Stark from Game of Thrones? I love both the name and the character!

Making this my first stop on the forums now that I'm here. Just checking in to give the proverbial nod to the board members in a routinely customary fashion. Not going to get in depth with this particular post, just issuing a, "Greetings," to all.

 Re: Goth.net chat
For those of you who want to use the chat room through an IRC client, the server is
irc.darker.net
After you have connected to that, type in
/join #net.goth
You may need to lurk a little (just hang around, we'll eventually notice the new name). Most of us have a 24hr connection, and we're world wide, so we can't guarantee times we're active, though this time of night (when Europe and Britain are at work) seems the most active.

If you do so, you can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box within the posting form. Welcome to the forums, Gotyla! I've posted a snippet from the FAQ's that may help you.

Re: Introduction Thread - New? Introduce yourself here!
Hello all, I guess it's time for me to get something done here.
I'm from California, have been interested in Gothdom since I saw my first Goths when I was five in Balboa Park. Since then I've slowly evolved to become gothier and gothier until I find there is not a speck of color in my wardrobe, I own 2 sets of Demonia boots and a pair of winkelpickers, my hair has been shaved and dyed every color under the sun, and my appreciation for the Sisters of Mercy grows daily. (Normally my music tastes are firmly on the electronic side so this is quite monumental for me).
I love to go to goth clubs but I don't drink, I love the smell of cigarettes but I can't smoke (I'm a classical vocalist).
I'm currently studying German, Russian, and music. Almost fluent in German, Russian's still in the early stages. I do a little freelance news writing on the side and host a (of course goth) radio show on my university's radio station. I also write poetry and fiction. I've been published in a journal recently, so hopefully that takes off soon!
Anways, I'm excited to be here. Hope to join in on some interesting conversations and meet some new people. For all I love to club, I actually don't have any Goth friends, hopefully that will change soon!

Re: Introduction Thread - New? Introduce yourself here!
Hey, Kitt here. I'm 18 and while I could say I 'went Goth' 2 years ago, I think that's overgeneralizing (that may not be quite the word I'm looking for). I tend more toward the belief that Goth is an expression of your tastes and inclinations rather than a mere "lifestyle choice," at least not in such black-and-white terms. I think I've just grown out of my baby bat phase, though, during which time I was kind of a lot of a poseur, went around trying to make sure people knew I was Goth, tried to re-mold myself to fit ALL the tastes of what I thought "real Goth" was at the time, etc. As in every time I heard a new opinion about what Goth is, I canonized it and ritualized the following of it. I'm sure we've all been through that. But I'm definitely not like that anymore. As far as music, I like pretty much all music with a few exceptions, but tend toward harder rock, Goth stuff, operatic stuff and older-style music like swing. I like snakes, housecats/wildcats, bats, dormice and horses in that order. Anyone who's interesting here and who wants to be my friend?

Re: Introduction Thread - New? Introduce yourself here!
Hey there. My name is Robert and I figured World Goth Day would be a great time to join. Some of you may know me by my webcomic Writhe and Shine [ http://www.writheandshine.com] which is about a couple of goths living down in New Orleans enjoying "the scene." I've started a new strip called Overcast With A Chance Of DOOM! http://www.chanceofdoom.com and post new comics every Wednesday. Well, there's not much else to say because those comics are how I currently identify myself. There may be more info on the Author page, but you can read that if you really need to. I hope to meet a lot of cool people here!

Welcome aboard and happy World Goth Day to you, djsprockets. I hadn't seen your comics before, but I'm bookmarking the pages now! Very creative and fun!
