Well, I know it's not that close to Halloween yet, but it's close enough to start talking about it. So one thing I'm curious to know is: what are you all going to dress up as this year? What have you all done in Halloween past?
For me, I've thought of making an Edward Scissorhands costume, though I'm thinking that it'll be a very hard costume to make. Have and of you done this as a costume or have any ideas for what to do for this costume? Other ideas I've had for costumes are being a Hippie(my mom's idea), Sandman(from the Vertigo comic; I did this last year), or something that reflects the '80s.
Well, that's all I have for this subject right now. Hope to hear what you all have to say.

I wanted to be Edward Scissorhands, but I don't have the money or skill to make one. Instead, I decided to be this Ziggy Stardust, and my friends are going to be other glam rockers.

I will probably celebrate my 20th birthday with a few good friends.

I'm going to attempt a Lulu (final fantasy X ) cosplay.
Last year I dressed up as a moogle.
Other ideas for this year is just to go GAF. I haven't GAF'd in ages. At any rate, it depends on the weather, at the moment it's too hot for either costumes. I may end up doing a moogle again.

I'm going to wear my pajamas, wet my hair and flip it in front of my face. So I'm going as Samara from The Ring. I've been talk I looked like her with my hair covering my face, it's about the same length too.
It shall be fun.

Duh, waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. What else? :p
Truthfully...it depends. If my buddy Jake throws a party again this year, I'll probably go to that, but after last year the chance of that is halved. I might just go out with my girlfriend, maybe try and find someplace showing a decent horror flick (saw Nosferatu a few years ago. Kicked ass). Or I might end up staying home and handing out candy to the lil' kiddies.
As for a costume, I haven't decided. I might just go as a vampire again (I go as a different kind/style of vamp every time. Last year I was a Buffy-style vamp). There's still plenty of time though, so I don't need to decide quite yet.
One definite, though, is I'll be hanging out in one of the larger cemetaries in the city with a small group of friends. It's one of those cliched little tradition-like things we started about five years ago when we stopped trick-or-treating. It's just something fun; we usually get some kind of alcohol and just hang out, maybe tell ghost stories or dumb shit like that. The first year we did lameass things like try to contact spirits (never worked) or raise the dead. Heh...Leah even recited from one of those books that claim to have arcane rituals for summoning and black magic and stuff. It's always just loads of pointless fun.

Sorry to sound so naive, but what exactly is the story behind Halloween? It's not really an Australian tradition and I was just curious as to how it came about in America.

Frogman -- Halloween is All Hallows Eve in Christian terms, and Samhain in terms of the Pagan religions which preceeded it (and also some of the Neo-Pagan religions) -- it's a festival associated with the dead, but I'm afraid I can't give masses of detail, cause I just can't remember properly try doing a google search or something if you want to know more.
For Halloween, I will do very little. I will carve a pumpkin or two and put them in the windows of my house, and turn off the lights. I will hand out sweets to and small children who turn up. I may dress up, or I may not. I have yet to decide on that point.

I hate Halloween, just because we don't have it here. OK, so we have Purim, but it's much lamer than Halloween. We go in costumes to school, hand out baskets of candy to friends, there is probably a DJ, and then go we home.
Nobody makes Purim parties in their homes, it's always in clubs that you have to pay to get into. I never went to a club Purim party because it seems kind of lame. The only fun parties I went to is the parties organized by the foundation my parents are members of, that deals with kids who left religion and got kicked out of their homes.
This year I'm going as an Arab. Israeli-Arab women has a great fashion sense and I love their style.

We haven't decided yet, but one thing is for sure. I wont be serving trifle. A few years ago when the kiddies were younger I made a giant bowl of trifle and told the kids it was their friend Debbie. With all the lights red and the 'spooky' atmosphere, it occurred to me after some time had passed, they were actually believing that Debbie was in the bowl. I have no idea why they thought a seemingly normal mother would start serving up friends on Halloween, but they did. To say they were scared to death was an understatement, and no, I have never made trifle again!

No " trick or t(h)reat" for me...
I'll be working as chief of security at one of Swedens larger gamingconventions that weekend. Usually though, some people comes in costumes to the convention so i am quite sure I will see something atleast

Not sure about what I'll be doing on Halloween. Maybe trick-or-treating with a bunch of friends, maybe party, or maybe handing out candy to kids. If I do dress up, I'll go for... hm, guess I don't know yet. What I'm sure of is that I won't be spending my Halloween writing a last minute 2000 word essay like last year.

Assuming things go as planned I'll be taking the day off work and going out to my mother's house. There she, my sister and I will proceed to decorate the front lawn to look like a graveyard that's been disturbed by the legions of the undead. Ooooooh!
No, seriously. We're going to hand out candy so we figured we'd go all out. My sister is going to be chained to the front porch in a ghoulish mask of some kind. I personally will be down near the driveway, eviscerated. My mother will be the ancient hag who summoned up a pile of zombies. We plan to have a recorded loop of the 'sumerian incantaion' from the Evil Dead movies playing in the garage with a strobe light flashing and the fog machine and such.
Halloween is the best time of year for me. Last year I think I spent about three hundred dollars on it.
I'll also be doing ritual, but I'll probably do that on the full moon, which precedes the 31st this year. My favourite holiday. ^^
