For those of you who log into the IRC server, be aware that we are *still* having issues with that.

This will affect those people logging in on the web applet and those that connect to the sanctuary.darker.net server. For those with an IRC client (Mirc, IrcII etc.), make sure you connect to the ruiner.darker.net server as that one is not having problems.

Currently I'm at a loss to explain why the sanctuary server is having problems. I'm hoping it's sorted soon as I'm close to maiming the damn machine.

Incidentally, the problems come and go... sometimes it's fine, and other times it can take up to 45 minutes for answers to show up.

Ah well. Can I just add that it gets REALLY annoying, there is 15+ people in the channel doing nothing, not even one letter is hit and then sent.
Sorry just it bugs me

You're just jealous that you don't have a permanent connection. :P

You know, I get really sick of explaining this about 100 times a week to random people.

In the channels nearly 95% of the people have permanent internet connections... so their computer is always signed on.

Add to that that of these people, there's a split (and a fairly even one at that) over generally 3 timezones... US, Europe and Australia.

So... not everyone is going to be at their computer 24/7 ... people have work, school, a social life and sleep to contend with, and this is spread out over the 3 timezone groups of people we have. Not everyone can coincide their schedule to match up with yours.

So yes, you will encounter the channel at dead times, it is not consistently busy all the time. I couldn't even really say when it's busy because it varies a lot... I've had busy conversations at 4 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and at like midnight *shrug* and sometimes at more conventional hours ... late afternoon and early evening etc. Because the channels don't have LOADS of people, there's not always going to be someone to talk to.

*Feels suitably chastised* I don't moan alot but it just gets slightly. If I want to chat to anyone here its at 1am - 6am. Which I can't do for obvious reasons (I'm not a total insomniac yet)

I noticed that you were just online for like 3 seconds... there *are* actually people talking now you know, not that I think you could have noticed with the speed you were in and out of the channel.

Lilith, I was online for about 10 minutes. Plus my computer crashed as well so that was a pain.

Well you may have thought you were online for 10 minutes but you literally came into channel and left immediately. If you want to chat and are having problems with the appelet then download mIRC or something. Its much more stable.

Mes, that was mirc I was running. I used to use xircon till someone found out that typing up fast messages d/ced it from the server.

That's probably because you triggered a flood control either on the server of the network you were on, or set within your chat program... not just typing fast.

Lilith, other peoples fast typing crashed it, not mine.
Ah well mirc shall suffice for now.

I can't seem to access neither sanctuary.darker.ner or ruiner.darker.net. I get some fishy 10004 error in Trillian. I hope it's just my school or something, and will try later, but if there is any current problems, please let me know.

None as far as I know. We're also getting enough random traffic coming through so I know people are connecting.
