Does anybody here have an interest in Martial Arts?

I do karate. It is a great way to keep fit and learn how to protect yourself!

I love martial arts. I took a few kung-fu classes, and I'm currently raising money so I can take more classes.

I agree; it does keep you fit and it teaches you self-defense.

Yeah, kung-fu is VERY expensive. But I love it, so I'll try to continue it as much as I am able to.

I did American Freestyle for many years, then my teacher retired. I joined up with an IKL chapter (worst time in my martial arts career) where my almost-hubs trained at. I didn't last long there and I'm pretty much retired.

I remember at one open tournament this eight-nine month pregnant kung-fu lady did the most amazing and graceful kata (not sure what you call them in Chinese). Man, I move like a beached whale already....

I did a year of Karate, and a year of Kung-Fu before settling on Tae-Kwon-do, which I did for 3 years.
The fittest 5 years of my life :P
That was a long time ago though, I'd love to get back into it at some point, mainly for the fitness aspect of it really.
I might go back to Tae-Kwon-do, which I really enjoyed, or I might try something new, like Capoella, which looks like lots of fun.

I am currently doing Karate, but used to do a little bit of Judo. Not that I remember much Judo- only a throw and a couple of holds. Meh, Karate is fun :)

I did six weeks of Shotokan while I was in Turkey (unfortunately came back, and there are no Shotokan dojos in my area :(). I highly recommend it for anybody wanting to learn martial arts. Plus I definitely got stretched in a hurry. :P

I would be interested in taking up Brazilian Ju-jitsu. I took Karate as a kid, but never got any good at it. Now I am thinking BJJ would be awesome for strength and conditioning as well as self-defense.

I've been studying Tai-Chi since January and I'm finding to be all kinds of interesting. It's very different to all the martial arts mentioned here with a partial exception for Kung-Fu which uses some of the same weapons. I would advise anyone to try it out for a few weeks at least, but be warned that if you've done an external martial art prior to it then you'll likely go insane at the slow pace.

I’ve been doing Lau Gar Kung Fu for just over 10 years now and hopefully I’ll be grading for my black sash next year. I’m going to classes 3 times a week now and I try to do some training at home on the other days.

It’s not very expensive because I’m paying £58 per month and I get unlimited number of classes for that.

Howdy, well I've tried Wing Tsun (some sort of kung fu), Karate, Kendo,... I think thats it. And I quit all because I ran out of money -.-

But martial arts are awesome, even if you get punched in the eye xD
