 Re: Unusual names: any stories?
I really rather love that my parents named me Peruda. (Yes, that is my real name.) It's an ancient Hebrew name that refers to a family of descendants of Solomon''s servants who returned from exile in Babylon under Cyrus the Great.
I also know a Cymoril (from a fantasy novel ) and a girl named Shannara (from the Shannara books).

I got told about a girl in EB Games who's name was Liberty Moonbeam. Her parents must have been the biggest stoners.

On a more disturbing note, when I still worked at the grocery store I had one customer with the last name Rape. Middle age guy too. Usually we're supposed to say the customer's name ("Hello Mr. ___") but uh... no. Just no. That's when you change your last name.

 Re: Unusual names: any stories?
I knew a girl in a neighboring town with the unfortunate name of Candy Sweet. I always thought her parents should have been slapped for burdening their child with such a name. But, who knows, maybe she likes her name.

I hate to say this... but that sounds like the kind of name an actress would take if she were starring in some less-than-savory cinema, if you take my meaning.

My imagination is way too active today.

 Re: Unusual names: any stories?
One of my favorite names is Dierdre, from an Irish legend. She was said to be the most beautiful woman to live and her live was filled with sorrow because of her beauty. She eventually is said to have committed suicide after her husband was killed and eventually sold to slavery due to her despair at his death. My favorite Irish legend.
