Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
Romanian is my first language. English is my second language and I speak it since I was 4; my mother is an English teacher. Oddly, when I speak English I have a strong British accent, because it comes more natural to me, and I find the American accent very difficult. I also speak Spanish pretty well. My French is only at comprehension level. I'd like to learn German next, than maybe Greek or Norwegian. I love germanic languages.

Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
I love languages! Wherever I transfer to I want to double major in Japanese and Arabic and minor in French. I want to learn so many languages it's not even funny! Some people say, "you can't learn that many languages, your brain will explode." But I pick up on them quickly, and they're all different from each other.
I'm furthest along in learning French and Japanese (been studying them for four years) but I just started learning Arabic so I don't know too much from that one. Other than 'my name is blah blah blah' or 'i live in a house with my mother and sister'

Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
I learned Spanish from work. Hispanics are becoming the main population in California these days, so it was hard not to pick up the language. It was either that or get stared at blankly. Even when I do use Spanish I still get stared at. I just can't win... -_-''
I'm wanting to learn German, but I want to learn Italian, too (I listen to a lot of opera). I'm picking up Japanese from all the anime, music, and TV shows. I can't read it worth beans, but I know what is being said.

Oh I can read everything BUT the kanji. I mean, I know like 40 characters, but still. It's too much.

Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
"Kaffee, schwarz, wie meine Seele." (I'm more of a tea drinker though so maybe "Tee, gruen, wie... ein Blatt??") XD I've been studying German for about 4 years now. I'm almost fluent, I just need to be dropped in Germany for a month for the final push. I'm working on Russian right now, the alphabet really isn't that hard but the grammar is a little ridiculous. Still fun though! I can't wait until I'm fluent, Russian culture is one of my great loves. After Russian I plan on learning Japanese, though I see a lot of people are angsting about that. After Japanese... probably a Romance language of some type like French, and then Hindi.

Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
Am considering learning a new language, japanese, hebrew and finnish have come to my mind. Any suggestions on what would be a nice language to learn?
I do speak german, swissgerman, french, english and bits of italian (includes latin)
I've made attempts in learning japanese when I was over and decided it might well be a possible undertaking. And I'm very interested in finnish...just too many possibilities of languages to learn out there.

Re: Languages - Sprachen - Langues - Talen
It's amazing how many people are able to speaok so many languages. I'm just 1.5 languaged, but I won't surrender learning English. My German is fine, I just got 100% in an assessment for business correspondence.

Mine too ^^ I've been learning Russian for a few days now (almost a week), but I'm Polish so it's easier for me A lot of grammar and words I can figure out just like that I've known the alphabet since I was 8/9, and now I'm reading Harry Potter in Russian ^_^ (After Russian I'd also like to learn Ukrainian, or at least, well enough to understand it - I already have a textbook for Ukrainian bought) I seriously want to live in Russia one day.
